National hotline tried to look me up and did not see me after 5 weeks

then gave me the phone number of the local center

I called the local center.

they did not find me and told me to come and file ss5

I went to file the same day

You can return 2 days after initial filing and GET THE NUMBER.

Is good to return 2 days after, also - if any problems in SAVE database, you will LEARN ABOUT IT, that day.

thanks guys!!! since im off on friday, we will just go to SSN office that day and see whats happening...we got the green card 7 business days after he got here but no SSN thats why i got worried.

So - what you do? tell all ;)

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Well, at least you got a number, ya?

The cool thing, is that the SSN card name and the green card name MATCH, so the husband can go and do things with the banks now.

Sure, it's gonna cause problems later, but hei - money is money. get some, spend some.

We got the greencard very quickly but it was actually a little bit of a hassle getting the SSN. They were moving so slowly and we just wanted to get it that we had a contact get ahold of the SSA and have them rush it.

I hate waiting.

Ya know, if you went back 2 days after applying for the SSN, the clerk will GIVE YOU the number. no need to rush.

OTOH, if it's been 5 weeks, or someone mumbled 'USCIS Electronic Verification check' at the desk at SSA office - IMO, yer hosed.
