I weighed in at 154.6 pounds this morning.

Jan 1 - 160 pounds

Feb 18 - 154.6

Yes I know it is slow, but I do have to say that I have gained a lot of muscle so I am proud of myself. Been eating the clean way promoted by Tosca Reno. I love it and get to eat tons. I can't afford to buy all the ingredients she suggests because a lot of them are unusual but I still make it acceptable to the eat clean program. Does anyone else use her nutrition advice?

I love being a Canadian.

Wow congrats! That is great and very realistic. I have never heard of that eating program, but I'm totally going to research it!

That's fantastic!! Actually your weight loss is a healthy one. I worked at Curves and learned lots on weight loss management. I learned that on average, we only gain 1/2 pound a month. ( that's normal weight gain...lol) So if someone loses 1-2 pounds a month..you're well ahead of the game!!

You can do it!!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I find it is a great way to eat. I also keep track of my nutritional information at sparks people. I find it is very time consuming to prepare things, but try to do a few days at a time which helps. Who knew that chopping veggies takes so long. LOL The biggest benefit I have seen to eating clean is I have started to sleep at night and I no longer have cravings for sugar. I was a complete sugar addict before. The weird things is that when I see something like cheese cake or think of something I used to love to eat. I do not feel any craving or need to have it at all, but my mouth waters. It is the weirdest thing. HAHA

I love being a Canadian.

I'm late to the game joining but I've been sooo swamped with work/wedding planning I haven't had time to post! I have been following this thread though, and congrats to everyone for your weight loss! Here's to achieving our goals :)

I'd like to lose 10 lbs before my wedding in May. I'm basically just watching my diet (trying to avoid consuming too much sugar/fat), keeping my metabolism running by eating small, healthy meals frequently and also ... exercise! I generally eat pretty well but I'm so terrible at getting motivated enough to exercise. However, last night I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and 25 on the treadmill and it felt great! I'm actually looking forward to going tonight :) I'm going to attempt to get some weights involved, we'll see though.

Good luck to everyone! :)

Thanks for starting this Peachey! Amusingly enough, earlier this week I was thinking of starting a new weight loss thread too, but haven't been on VJ much lately. I just noticed this thread today.

Here's mah story:

About 4 years ago I lost 50 lbs with Jenny Craig, in a time period of about 6 months... unfortunately since then, I've gained about 70 back. Not Jenny Craig's fault. Just the fault of a lazy-lifestyle with an ex b/f, and getting a job where I sat around all day, and then spending my evenings sitting around at home talking to the now hubby online/phone. lol

So, now I need to lose 80 lbs to be at a "good" BMI (I never did reach my final goal with JC before I stopped and gained it back). I'm the heaviest I've been my entire life, and I definitely feel the unhealthiest. It's horrible. I won't post my weight, because I think personal weight depends on a lot of things (height, body style/frame, muscle mass, etc), but that 80 lbs gives you an idea. I envy those of you who are just after that little 10-20 lbs. I figure this 80lbs will take me about a year and a 1/2, depending on how hard I try at this. I'm turning 30 in October this year (*pout*), and would like the first 40 lbs to be gone by then. That's my 'dream'.

I joined sparkpeople about a year ago as well, and was tracking for a bit, but then got too busy with immigration and moving. However, if so many of you are on it, I might like to use it again. :) It is a great site. Those of you who are on it should post info so we can find each other! My username there is also ashenflowers. Look me up (my profile is currently outdated. lol) I also recently joined www.myalli.com It's a website about a pill you can take, but I don't take it. The site itself still has a great weight loss plan that you can sign up for free without doing anything with their pill, and have weekly check ins and some great info. I just started it a few days ago, so haven't really gotten into it, but it seems pretty good.

Via JC, I've more or less learned how to lose the weight, but the problem is the motivation, and support. I have a case of the skinny-hubby too, so unfortunately, while he's supportive, it's just hard because our food needs are extremely different. I hate buying separate food for us, or fresh food that I won't be able to eat by myself before it goes bad... it took some arm twisting to buy fruit at the grocery store today. :( Apparently he doesn't like fruit (?!?!). So there's that. Plus he can eat whatever he wants, and I don't want to deprive him of certain foods, just because they're not what I want to eat. So, I'll try for portion control, and healthy snacky.

Anyways, I just wanted to add a couple things I've learned (which I'm sure you know, but no one's really mentioned yet). A healthy/sustainable weight loss trend is only about 1 lb a week. In the beginning you will probably lose a bit more, but I'd suggest only weighing yourself once a week, and try to weigh yourself in the same clothes each time, and at the same time of day. This will give you a better idea of your actual progress. :) Plus it's more motivating to see 1 or 2 lb losses instead of 0.5 lb, no? lol

In conclusion (lol... I say that, cause this is LONG)... my husband and I are also in financial difficulty at the moment, so I don't have the funds to go to the gym, or to get the "really" healthy stuff like I might want to, but I do have access to nice walking weather and locations, and Dance Dance Revolution. So hopefully those will help.

Thanks for reading. :P

Sorry about the double-post. For those of you on sparkpeople.com I made a visajourney spark group, if you guys want to join. :)http://teams.sparkpeople.com/VJSpark

I also wanted to add that I don't actually have a scale at home. lol I'm not sure how I'll be really tracking my weight loss, other than once in a while having access to one at my in-law's place, or just going by how my clothes feel, and how I feel. But I'll be tracking my eating and exercising on spark! :)

I've been really reluctant to come into this thread, not really sure why! I guess for some reason losing weight is so hard and scary probably and I always seem to fail. But, maybe joining in will help me out a little.

It just kinda hit me this morning that I've gained 25 lbs since I moved to the US in June. 25 lbs in 8 months is just stupid!! Unfortunately my husband has always had poor eating habits, as does the rest of his family. Whenever we have family dinners it either involves going out to eat, or ordering a pizza. When you live with 4 other people who don't eat right its really really easy to just adopt that lifestyle. On top of that, we're never home, ever. The new business Bill's opening is 70 miles away, meaning we're up at 5:30, out the door by 6:30, eat breakfast out, work around town all day and eat lunch out, then we don't get home til after 8 most days so we either eat something frozen from a package or eat out again. In all honesty we probably eat out at least 12 meals a week. How bad is that? In Canada I'd be lucky if I ate out once a week. All the fast food in the world all tastes the same to me now, its all disgusting and I don't want to eat it anymore. Unfortunately when you're hungry and have nowhere to go to make some food you get stuck! Even eating things like McDonald's salads don't seem to help. Its hard to sit there eating a salad when your husband is pounding back a double quarter ponder and a large fry. I can't get him to eat anything remotely green, but that's a whole other issue.

On a more optimistic note, we get our new house next week. Living 5 minutes from work means we can eat at home a lot easier. We're planning on trying to limit eating out to once or twice a week. We can come home for lunch and dinner rather easily. It's going to be hard for Bill, really hard, since he grew up in a house where they eat out at least once a day, everyday. I'm starting to think my body can't handle it anymore! I just feel gross, and its not just the weight, eating bad effects a lot of things in your body. I've always had really nice skin and now it just seems to be falling flat, I'm always lethargic and have no energy, I've been getting a lot of back pain which probably has something to do with the sudden weight gain and my clothes don't seem to fit me right anymore.

So, basically, I feel like a fat cow. I've never been thin, absolutely not, but I've always thought of myself as a fairly active and fairly healthy fat girl

And now I'm depressed!
