Yeah, I try hard not to go cold turkey.

I still let myself eat some bad stuff... just waaaaaaaay less than I used to.

This is a good thread. I would like to lose about 10lbs of just fat. I plan to start running again once I'm in Maryland -- I used to run daily for about 10k or so and it was awesome but stopped for no good reason. I just want to keep myself more on the lean side and get a lot of cardio. And while not a bad eater, I like to ensure that I'm burning off the food I put in especially since I have a penchant for burgers and pizza and just good food.

I believe in exercise on a daily basis and though I don't run now, or not very often, I cycle and I walk at least an hour or so a day. Without fail. It's not enough for me though, I need more cardio...

What do you guys eat during the day?

And, how much water do you drink?

I ask these questions because I think it oculd be related to 2 things in my experience.

1. Eating too much refined sugar, white bread, pasta, pizza, candy, pop, juice. All of that stuff only satifies for a short period of time and then makes us starving again. When I eat pasta for dinner, I'm almost always hungry later on. If I just eat meat, vegetables and some sort of whole wheat carb like brown rice, quinoa or even just a slice of whole wheat bread... I'm usually fine later.

No, I hate any kind of sweets, not big on bread, don't eat candy or drink much juice other than veggie. Had a diet pepsi addiction but have that kicked now. I do love my carbs though - I have cut them down or right out of meals and increased my veggie intake to being at least half of my meal. It may be a comfort thing now too.

2. We are often more thirsty than hungry, but our bodies feel hungry. Test: when you feel hungry, drink a glass of water.. if you can feel the water go down and sometimes even hit your tummy... that means you really are hungry. If you feel less hungry once you drink water and can't feel it go down... then you were more than likely dehydrated.
Yes, that is a good tip. I usually do drink lots of water but some days not as much. I was really bad when I was on my diet pepsi addiction. My baby had me up 5 times a night and I just so needed that kick from it during the day. Now he only has me up 2-3 times a night. lol My dream is to be able to sleep thru the night once again.

Hi Everyone,

Can I join in on the "weight loss" fun too?

Thanks for starting this thread, Peachy! Lol..The perfect thing to get my 2010 New Years Resolution going .....

Lol...Now that my immigration and pregnancy journeys are over....

It's time for the Weight loss journey to begin....

Time for me to lose the pregnancy weight and any other extra weight gained along the way....:star:

Here are my (Ant's) stats so far...

Pre-pregnancy weight (2008): 125 lbs

Peak-pregnancy weight (2009): 153 lbs (28 pounds gained.....lol.. 8 1/2 pounds of that was baby weight!)

Current post-pregnancy weight (2010): 135 lbs

Target weight: 115 lbs

Short-term weight goal: Lose 20 lbs by the end of 2010....Get to Target Weight by 2011!

Long-term weight goal: To maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle and to be healthier overall...:)

Now here is my dilemma about my weight loss...

Do I start my weight loss now...Or wait until later in the year?

My son is still nursing (and no, I'm not going for forumla)...Don't know of weight loss would diminish the milk supply....Help!

Now or later...Hmmm.......

Either way, I will lose the weight before 2011!

I think I can I think I can...

Good luck with all your weight loss journeys too!

Okay, I've actually changed my long term target weight.

Thanks to that site, I saw that it's not too hard to lose 40 lbs by January 1st 2011.

So I'd like to be down to around 150 lbs by 2011!

My long term goal is to STOP SNACKING.

... Or at least not eat the whole thing in one sitting. A little snacking isn't going to kill me.

While you are nursing you need to maintain a healthy diet or your milk supply will be affected. However you can still lose weight in a healthy manner and keep baby healthy as well. Good luck!

OBX-Thanks for the link to the article... (I read and bookmarked that one too..)

Hmm...So it looks like I can start losing the extra weight....

But I have to do it very carefully....

Lol....So the article says......

"The key here is moderation. That means no fad diets, no eliminating entire food groups, no starvation plans. What you eat directly affects both the quantity and the quality of your breast milk; if you cut back too far, your baby won't be getting the nutrition she needs to grow and thrive."

"Look for a weight loss of no more than five pounds a month or you're losing too fast and can jeopardize your baby's health."

That is so true.....I'm still 'eating for two'.....lol.....Whatever I eat...my baby still eats.....

So let's see...20 lbs to lose....10 more months until 2011.....

Maybe I can do a 2lbs-5lbs per month weight loss.......That could work......lol....

Oh well....'Slow and Steady'......I think I can....

Good luck to all on their weight loss and immigration journeys too!

I was getting discouraged by the number on the scales...so my new thing right now....

I weighed on the 1st of February...I will weigh again March 1st... My MAIN focus is the exercise and just making sure I get up off my a$$ and MOVE everyday. I know my clothes are fitting better and the pants i could not get up past my thighs in December are now loose enough I can almost pull them off without undoing the button or zipper.....

Im scared to quit smoking incase I pack on the pounds :( anybody quit and not put on too many pounds?? need some SERIOUS help.

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.
