Glad to see everyone making progress, that's awesome! :)

I'm happy to report that I haven't ate out at all this week! I've been cooking all my meals at home, and I feel so much better. It's just the first step, but probably the hardest thing for me to commit too. Before I was eating at least 13 meals out a week, now we're limiting ourselves to 1. I haven't stepped on a scale, but it doesn't really matter to me at this point, I just feel so much better!

That's amazing Huggles! I too feel a lot better this week. I have cut out sugar and I don't crave it anymore, which is soooo awesome. I had 2 days of constant craving and then 2 days of withdrawal... and today I'm completely over it.

Sugar really is like a drug!

I honestly really, really need to cut soda out of my diet.

I drink the diet version, but I really need to cut it out and only drink it when I go out to eat or something.

We go out about 3 times a week, but we try really hard to pick something healthy, like yesterday... we went to a sushi place.

Oh so good and good for you.

Cutting sugar out completely is so hard! It is like a drug, I totally agree! But at the same time, when you don't have it you do feel a lot better. Last summer I cut sugar out of my diet, and even though It lasted a total of 2 weeks before I gave up, I lost like 7 pounds in 2 weeks, just cutting out the sugar. I'd like to be able to do that again, but one step at a time I guess.

Soda is definitely a big problem for us. I've been trying to switch it up for different kinds of juices. The calorie difference may not be much, but there is usually less sugar and more nutrients. I've actually started drinking this green tea stuff from Lipton and its really good! The diet version tastes the same as the regular and it has 0 calories.

Diet pop isn't necessarily better than regular pop, due to the lovely additive of aspartame. At least that's why my husband would say. I on the other hand don't care, and think it's at least a step in the right direction. lol :)

That said, the last week for me has not been good. I've been in a bad mood almost the whole week (some of that I will admit is due to it being "friendly reminder that you're a woman" week, and some just due to general crappiness), and have been taking it out on myself. I haven't been tracking my food anymore, and haven't been making smart choices (not drinking all my water, eating chocolate, eating a BIG bowl of mac and cheese, not going for walks etc). Really fell off the bandwagon there.

I'm with you there ashen :dead:

I havn't exercised for the last 3 days... I just can't bring myself to exercise lately.

It's so frustrating... I lose determination on things just way too easily.

I havn't exercised for the last 3 days... I just can't bring myself to exercise lately.

It's so frustrating... I lose determination on things just way too easily.

I think what makes the exercise thing so hard to keep up with, at least for me, is that I'm stuck doing it myself. It would be easier with a workout buddy - that way each person can motivate the other when they don't feel like it. The other factor that's kept me from doing it regularly was being so tired all the time. But I am so happy, my husband started a great job and also no longer has to work night shifts, so my sleeping habits are becoming regular again. I know I will have an easier time keeping it up now.

The last couple days has been crazy on my progress though. I'm down about 5 pounds since I started, but quit exercising for about a week from complete exhaustion and chronic migraines. Now that's over and the last couple of days have been CrAzY with having just 1 car and preparing for my own interview (I ran around literally all day yesterday reworking my design portfolio and getting prints, ugh). So I broke form and had a glass of wine last night (drinking my calories!) and then had taco bell for dinner. Then today I skipped lunch for 2 rice cakes... I was too busy to eat. Those little setbacks really add up, and it sucks! I want to fit back in my old clothes again!

While I'm not "huge" (the Wii Fit tells me I'm "normal" but I'm close to that overweight line), but I am not thin and healthy anymore. I was always the slim one my whole life (my ex-husband even called me "skinny lou" as a hillbilly nickname), and I still have clothes from 5-6 years ago that are size 4 and 6. Now I'm 10/12, and I hate it. The flub on my stomach, the extra weight I can see in my chin, and BLECH.

The fat on my chin is THE most bothersome fat on my body.

It makes my face look fatter than it is and gives me a double chin.

I don't mind my belly fat that much, it's my chin fat that bothers me.

Diet soda is just as bad as regular soda. I think the chemicals in diet soda essentially give the spare tire fat around the belly. I hardly have soda anymore, but I remember having so much abdominal pain and have a hard time sleeping taking soda -- caffeine free or not. I think the sodas now a days are sweetened by HFCS which is so bad for the body. Id rather take tea and sweeten it with maple syrup or sugar than HFCS :(

Huggles -- if you like soda but want to lessen drinking it, one thing you can do is make carbonated juice or something. I use carbonated water and make iced teas or lemonade... or even hydrate concentrated juice! It might give you the same sensation as soda but not really all the junk that comes with it!

Sapphire -- I always find that the first two-three days are the worst after cutting sugar. But after, youd feel really good and not crave it at all!

And guys, if you fall off the bandwagon, the most important thing is climbing back on the saddle and going back to the healthy food choices and exercise. I lose a lot of weight really fast by dieting, but I find I can never maintain the limited diet I am in when Im on a diet. I would give up after a week of no carbs or whatever, and eat everything I limited myself to in one sitting! However, I also find that if I allow myself treats once in a while, I am more willing to eat healthy for lunch or dinner because I know I can have half a cup of ice cream or something. And though the weight loss is not as fast, I dont end up binging and undoing weeks of work!

Oh yeah, one thing I always do when I eat out is cut the food into four portions -- I always end up eating more than I should when I eat out, and thats an easy 1k-2k calorie meal! So I cut things into 4's and if I eat 2 of those 4 portions, the max damage I did was 500 calories... and I have lunch the next day!

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Thanks for the tips darkchilde. I'm not actually 'dieting' all that much. I was just making healthier choices, tracking my foods. Allowing myself to eat what I wanted, so long as at the end of the day I fell within my alotted amount of calories. I was doing well. I didn't feel deprived, but I wasn't out stuffing my face all the time.

My problem is I just don't care anymore.

Okay, I joined this thread late but I'm sure it's okay..:)

Since January 2010, I have dropped from a size 12 to a size 8.

I should be really happy, but I think I've gotten quite sad over it.

NOTHING fits right anymore. =[

I think I need new clothes..but I hate clothes shopping. Oh dear.

That is awesome, how did you do it?

Don't be sad! I'm the total opposite, I can't wait to have a reason to buy new clothes!

Well, my trick is very simple imo.

I cut fast food, and eating out of my diet completely. You'd be surprised how fattening eating out everyday is.

Then I cut all kinds of unnessacary sugar, like chocolate, candy, etc.

And I replaced all beef, with chicken and salmon.

It works! Haha
