So this has been mentioned a few times now, and I've decided to start it!

I think a good way to start is to list our goals and how we want to achieve them. Then we can encourage each other :)

Short term goal: Lose 15-20 lbs by May 1st 2010 (our "wedding" date)

Long term goal: Lost 40-50 lbs by April 1st 2011 and to be healthy and toned.

I plan to achieve my goals by going to the gym and doing weight training 3 x week and doing the treadmill for 45 mins other 3 days week. Sunday will be my relax day. I also plan to indulge on one meal/week so I don't binge.

12/31/2009 - Marriage

07/21/2010 - AOS approved

08/04/2010 - Green Card received (and it's actually green!)

05/30/2012 - Sent ROC packet to VSC

peachey - thats great news.

I've recently started P-90x exercise regime - and it's a bit hard for me - as my tailbone is cracked ;)

I've got to drop about 70 pounds, but I'm doing it quick (4 months) with this program and a diet.

Hang In There !!!

Perhaps we can make a pool of weekly weight loss? have the weekly winner receive some special prize or coupon?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Or bragging rights!

I've heard P-90x is good, but it intimidates me, and I'm comfortable at a gym...I also don't think Varba would do the P-90x :P

Good for you, Peachey! :energy:

I'm not going to join in yet...but I will in a couple of months.

I've managed to lose about 70 pounds before...so I know I can lose a lot of weight again. I've just got to be mentally comfortable and able to get into a routine.

We all KNOW how to lose weight...but it takes a certain level of willpower to commit to a goal and see it through. Huzzah to you for starting!

In 06-07ish I lost about 100lbs. Haven't put any of it back on, really, but have another 100+lbs to go before I'll be happy with the way I look. Even after losing another 100, I'll still be about 20lbs over my "ideal" weight.

Unfortunately, exercising and eating right didn't do anything all last year when I was trying to lose weight. I'm doubtful it will now. I have an appt. to get bloodwork done to test my thyroid (mom had thyroid cancer, and treatments, while pregnant with me) and to get tested for pre-diabetes, but I don't have the $ to afford the co-pay. I also don't "really" have time to exercise - 12 hour workdays, with meetings and church stuff and family committments after work. I'll have to find some time somewhere though.

So, short term: 5lbs (within a week or two - I'm giving up pop for Lent)

Long term: 100lbs (within the next year or two)

I am in. I started my weight loss journey at the beginning of January. So far I have lost 5 lbs. Is is not as much as I would like, but I have gained a lot of muscle. I go to the gym 5 days a week usually for one and one half hours. I want to lose 20 pounds. I currently weigh 155 pounds.

I love being a Canadian.

Last year I lost about 12 pounds in 3 months from completely changing my diet and working out for at least an hour 5 days/week.

I stopped eating junk food, used sparkpeople.com to track my calories/carbs/protein intake and also ate a very protein high diet. I gave up all type of soda, including diet and noticed a HUGE difference in my water weight.

I managed to maintain it until September and then when i started working again here I gained it all back so I'm back at where I started. This thread is exactly what I need to get back into it.

It'll be hard for me to follow the same diet I did last year because my husband and I like to have nice dinners, I'm going to try and work out as much as I can.

These are my goals:

Lose 10-15 pounds before June 1

Lose another 10 from June 1 - Sept 1

Realistically, I'd be happy with 15 pounds combined.

If I do lose the weight, my wedding dress is going to need a lot of alterations, since I just bought it at my current size...

I like P-90x a lot - it mirrors some special 'military exercise' that I had, in my youth. I understood the concept of muscle confusion, from way back then. I like it mostly because of the fat burning - i've a lot of muscle, but it's still buried.

I want, and I need, to 'be ripped' - so this program made a lot of sense to me, to use it.

I have had to 'shift a bit' because of my cracked tailbone, but mostly, I'm keeping up with everything.

About a year before I cracked my tailbone :D I had dropped 100 pounds in 5 months, with diet and exercise, got down to my youthful bantam weight, so I feel confident (even with this cracked tailbone) that I can do it again. Ya, I got checked out with a doctor, but I made sure he was a kineseologist specialty, too, before getting the exam.

A cracked tailbone sucks, though. No more horse riding, motorcycle, blah blah.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I can easily lose two pounds a day on average by not eating. I fasted three times in my life so far, the last time 21 days, only drinking water and tea. The first 3 or 4 days are hard, but after a week you get into a high that will last for as long as your body is okay with it. When you feel hunger again, it's time to stop.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Lol Absolutely worst weight loss advice to give unfortunately. Your body needs various nutrients, in the forms of protein, carbs, etc... in order to stay out of "survival" mode. If someone just reduces the amount of caloric intake being taken in every day, increases physical activity, and works on taking in "clean" calories they will lose weight. Fasting for a long period of time causes the body to begin storing fat in case the body needs to consume it due to a lack of calories coming in.

Same reason I've always hated people that promote the no-carb diet, in the end it's far more destructive to your body and will not result in healthy weight loss.

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

You drank only water and tea for 21 days no food at all?

Wow.

When I diet I do the low-carb thing, combined with walking/running for about 45 minutes a day on the treadmill.

I'd like to lose 15-20 pounds by my wedding which is in less than 3 months!

I don't really set very high standards for myself, sooo....

Short term goal: 5 lbs by March 31st

Long term goal: 30 lbs by the end of the year

I do the Wii fit daily for an hour, but the thing gets so fickle with my weight that I feel like I'm not losing any weight at all. It's really discouraging. I've been trying to start out a bit slow, since I havnt gotten real exersise since grade 9 gym class.... but I thought I would have lost something by now seeing as I've been doing this since I got married.

I do have a huge problem with snacking though. I've already cut way down but it still haunts me
