My fiancee's visa was approved last Friday, 2-12. They gave her an "appointment" to pick it up this Thursday, 2-18 at 3PM. Does anyone know what to expect? Will she have to sign a statement or complete another document with the Consulate?

I was in the room when my then-fiancee picked up hers...

As it happened for us: she went into the interview room at the embassy, sat down, and waited. Someone walked over to the front of the room holding a bunch of large sealed envelopes. He read off names, and once my fiancee was called, he handed her the envelope & passport and briefly explained what was to happen next (fill out the I-94 on the plane, don't open this envelope, give this to them at the POE, get married, file for AOS). End of story.

The visa pick-up was very uneventful, much like our friend RSN's fiancee.

It was just wait on line, took 3-5 min.

The person handing them out didn't want to answer any questions,

had an inflated sense of self-importance.

She says go shopping, buy overcoat* in Thailand, don't listen to farang :jest:

* By the time you get to NY (middle of March?) you probably won't need one
