Yea, I was shocked that it went through so quickly, thought it was a longer wait without an interview. I wasnt that bothered about how long the green card took anyway, once I had the EAD and AP, I was happy! Fingers crossed for you. Are you going to try a walk in for your biometrics? I did, as it was so close to where I live, and it sped up the process for me anyway, the EAD and Ap got approved 3 days after what would have been, my scheduled appointment.

The food is definitely what I miss the most being here! So I did gorge on goodies when I was home

Do you have Fresh and Easy supermarket on the East coast? Apparently it is owned by Tescos. I went in there the other day and they sell all kinds of english goodies, marmite, indian sauces and even, salad cream! And not too expensive!

Yes I went for my biometrics on Tuesday so still waiting. I havent heard anything yet except a touch the day after.

I had a look online for Fresh & Easy apparently they're just on the West Coast grrr. But I have found a few good things in whole foods - bake your own bread and crumpets mmmm! They're quite reasonable too. Oh, I saw some Indian sauces in my local A&P, but they're quite expensive. I have my family back home ready to send me a big package for christmas. Can't do without a xmas pudding!! :)

Enjoy settling in. Good luck on the job front. What field are you looking for?

Thank you! Fingers crossed for him, its really tough just even getting through the application stage out here. So many people looking for jobs! Hope he gets something soon

Thanks! And as for missing the British food, so is Phill! He said the biggest thing he misses from home is the GOOD cheese! lol!

By the way, if any of you have a store called World Market nearby, you might wanna check it out! Ours is an hour away, but they sell foods from all around the world. They have a British selection, it's not huge and it is a bit pricey, but at least Phill gets his fix of HP Sauce and Devon custard. lol

Oh thats a shame. The nearest Whole Foods to me is about 30 miles away, so I dont go there too often, might have to go check out that breat though! Yea, Ive decided im going to have to learn how to cook properly now im here. Im going to try doing yorkshire puddings one of these days, dont think think im going to find any in the freezer aisle here!

Turns out, I got offered a job on friday, cant believe it! Im going to be working at a local tiny airport, I used to work at heathrow, so its kind of the same field, just a tiny bit smaller!

Oh good cheese, definitely miss that, but we have Trader Joes out here in Cali, they sell some good cheeses from around the world, including English Chedder, made in England! Its a shame they dont have more stores across the states.

I have been to World Market and I got very excited by the random british food selection. Its funny, they are things I probably wouldnt eat at home, but because I recognise them, I get all happy and want them

Hmm I've heard of Trader Joe's, I'll have to see if they have a store near here. There is a local grocery store chain that has a "marketplace" store in a nearby town. I've heard they have some world foods there, so we need to check that out as well. LOL that's too funny! I was happy because they sell mushy peas! Last year when I was in England, Phill introduced me to them! Yum!

Yay, we finally filed for AOS today (one year from the day we filed for the K-1, coincidentally)

Our biggest concern was the vaccinations, so we ended up getting them transcribed by a CS, where we learned my husband needed the second round of MMR before he was good to go. Good thing we went to see the CS! They jabbed him and waived the transcription fee :star:

But I was still nervous so I included a page from the I-693 isntructions and highlighted the bit about K-1s not needing a repeat medical. Hope it works :x

Our naturalization timeline
1/12/2015 - Application sent to Phoenix service center by USPS priority mail

1/14/2015 - Package received in Phoenix

1/16/2015 - NOA date (hard copy received 1/22)

1/20/2015 - Check cashed

2/09/2015 - Biometrics

2/11/2015 - In line for interview

3/28/2015 - Hard copy interview notice received

4/29/2015 - Interview at Chicago field office - Approved!!!

5/22/2015 - Oath ceremony - Now a US citizen!!!!!!

Thank you, VisaJourney!!!!!

Received our texts and emails that our AOS etc application has been received, yay.

We're lucky here in Indianapolis for British food (although it's NZ fish and chips and hokey pokey ice cream I miss the most) because both Kroger and Meijer, our local mid-west supermarkets, carry quite a range of British food and we have Trader Joes and World Foods both up on the North side. I think that you can order online from World Foods so that might help people who don't have anything near them.

Oooh, I just had to add that I just signed in the USCIS website to check on things and I've had a touch yesterday for AP & EAD and apparently 'card production has been ordered for EAD' on the 13th! Whoo hoo! Finally things are moving along! No work on AOS though, not even a touch.

Thank you! The process went very smooth and pretty fast. All in all the interview probably took 30 minutes or so. The interviewer started talking to me first because he said I was the petitioner for the K-1, he had a huge pile of all the papers we had sent in through the K-1 and AOS process and mentioned that he read over my letter saying how we met which I sent in with the original K-1 packet which he quoted from about our relationship. He asked when we got married and then said "You had a civil marriage in Cleveland right?" and I corrected him and said that we actually had a religious one in Akron. He then asked my husband to verify his name and where he was born, if he was working, wanted to know a bit about the study abroad that we met during and what schools we graduated from as well as where I stayed during visits to England and how we kept in touch while being apart. Had my husband go through all of those yes/no questions on the I-485 to verify his answers. He also said that he saw that our K-1 application was approved last September (our NOA2) and wondered why it took so long to get the visa. I showed him some of our evidence for joint bank accounts and he wanted to know who wrote the checks and what we used the account for, what kind of bills we had, how much we paid my mother in rent. I also showed him our joint credit cards, debit cards and ID's with same address. I had more but he said that evidence looked good and wanted to move on to the album of pictures I had brought. He went through the wedding pictures, just kind of flipping through, asking my husband to identify some of the people in them. Then he asked about our extensive travelling around the UK and France while I was visiting my husband and wanted to know more. I had made a small photo book for my husband for our previous anniversary with pics from all our trips going through our trips which I had brought so I showed the officer and he flipped through and asked a few questions about the places we went, asked if we got to see a play in Stratford Upon Avon (which we didn't unfortunately, sold out/too expensive while David Tennant was in Hamlet, shame.... ;)).

That was about it. He said he couldn't say absolute because everyone still has to go through one more security check at the end of the process, but he thought our case was straightforward and that he was recommending it for approval. He talked about removing conditions and then we left. And we got the text/email for card production the next day.

Btw, both our toothbrushes our white, not that anyone cared, lol.
