HUUUUUUGE Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!! :) Are you going to do a little review about how it went? It would be interesting to hear what they asked etc...

Thank you!! :D

We took the stuff it said on the letter and a bunch of supporting evidence, along with all of our stuff from the visa interview, and copies of the entire K-1 petition and AOS package.

Our guy was hard to understand, had a heavy asian accent and was pretty stern and straight forward. Made us swear to tell the truth, asked us immediately for id's, if i was a US citizen, and asked me how we met. I described how we met and how our relationship evolved until we decided to marry, and then he asked if we had any joint accounts or insurance together. That is when I pulled out my big file of supporting evidence which I sorted out with a table of contents and gave it all to him. I had another copy for myself along with all the originals (I had given him all the copies).

He went through it all, gave us back the 40 pictures and wedding invitation without even looking at them. Asked if my dad was still working (my dad was our main source of household income), asked me our address, then proceeded to ask Leanne if she had ever been arrested ...she told him about that, then he asked if she was a member of any organizations..no, if she had ever been deported, how long she was in the US for her last (and only) visit, when we got married, and asked her our phone number. The whole time he was flipping through our AOS package page by page. Then he told me to take back the pictures he didnt look at and that he was approving us, and that she should get her green card in 10 days. he explained how we will need to file for removal of conditions in 1 year and 9 months, and that was it!

I will copy the table of contents that I made that shows all the supporting evidence we gave him. If you like, I have another file that is like 10 pages long of interview questions and tips that we used to prepare that I can send you also. Good luck and let us know if you have any questions or need any help, and let us know how it goes! Here is our table of contents:

SUPPORTING EVIDENCE OF MICHAEL & LEANNE’S RELATIONSHIP

1. Check from joint checking acct., box the checks came in (addressed to Leanne at our address), copies of both of our ATM Visa cards, copies of past 3 bank statements and last 2 envelopes they came in

2. Escrow & Title information, Grant Deed, Loan Documents

3. MasterCard account in both of our names (copy of both cards)

4. Health insurance documents showing Leanne & Michael together on Michael’s insurance through his job at Seccion Amarilla:

- Insurance Election form dated 02-22-2010 showing Leanne as the sole beneficiary on Michael’s life insurance policy as his fiancée

- Front and back copies of healthcare membership cards, with Michael and Leanne’s name together on each card

- Healthcare Coverage Status showing coverage dates for Michael & Leanne on the same policy

- Healthcare statement 08-18-2010 showing claims, deductibles and maximums for Michael & Leanne on the same policy

- Healthcare Dental Reimbursement document showing Leanne on Michael’s policy

- Two Laboratory bills showing balance due after healthcare deductable was paid

- Healthcare continuation coverage election form showing Michael & Leanne together as qualified beneficiaries

5. Current automobile registration showing Michael & Leanne both as registered owners of the same car

6. Current automobile insurance showing Leanne as a designated person on Michael’s policy

7. Copy of Verizon wireless account showing Leanne as Account Manager of Michael’s phone

8. Letters from friends and family members confirming that Michael & Leanne have a genuine relationship and a happy, loving marriage

9. Correspondence sent to Michael & Leanne as a couple

10. Wedding invitation, thank-you card, RSVP cards from attendees at the wedding, wedding cards from family & friends

11. Recent cards given from Michael & Leanne to each other

12. Various photographs (40) of Leanne & Michael together and with friends and family

We got the green card approved!!

Hi Soulja4christ! Wow! Thank you that was all so helpful. Yes I'd love to get your pages of tips too, if you don't mind. I'll send you a private message with my email address. Thank you!!!

Didn't they ask for any more financial info? More recent payslips etc...? I ask because Russ has changed jobs since we sent off the AOS application and if we can get away without mentioning it that would be great. I'm a bit concerned because I guess they don't like the petitioner changing jobs.(He still more than meets the poverty line though..)

Well... I have my biometrics appt tomorrow at 12pm in Elizabeth, NJ which is not too nice of an area but Russ' mom lives nearby in assited living so we're gonna stop by there afterwards. Hope it goes quickly!

Finally, I have just put AOS packet in the post. Hopefully no spelling mistakes or transposed numbers (I did triple check but still concerned).

Stupid post office though - apparently wasn't a real post office (it was at the supermarket) and they wouldn't send my letter that I wanted to send to the UK. Honestly, this country drives me insane so often!

No problem, glad to help!

No, he never asked me for any more job info. He didn't seem too worried about me losing my job recently. I guess as long as you are over the income requirement then that is all that matters to them. He was more interested in co-mingling of finances... when he asked about current medical insurance together, that was when I mentioned that it had expired last month when I lost my job. He didn't even bat an eye or ask anything about my job like I expected. He just replied "oh so you do not have any current insurance", and when I told him no, but that I had included copies of our past coverage, he didn't even want to see it.

He later asked me if my dad was still working, since my dad alone was over the income requirement we needed (we had included his income in the household when we applied). When I answered "yes", then he moved right along as if he was satisfied with that.

If I was you, I would take the last 2 months of paystubs with you and a letter from his employer just in case you need it (if you have an interview). Good luck tomorrow!

Woohoo, my green card was approved today

It only took just under 3 months from when I sent off the AOS packet and, I only recieved my EAD about 2 weeks ago. So the green card approval seems to have gone really quickly. So happy Im done now for 2 years!

I just got back from a trip back home, was so nice to get down the pubs and eat some proper home food! But now its back to this 90 degree weather, and finding a job!

Good luck to everyone else who is still waiting or applying, it felt like forever waiting for this approval, but Ive been really quite lucky now its gone through looking back on it now.

Woohoo congrats! It's amazing how quick it went wasn't it?! Phill has found a few jobs online, so tomorrow he's going to go pick up some applications. He's hoping to get something really soon!

Yea, I was shocked that it went through so quickly, thought it was a longer wait without an interview. I wasnt that bothered about how long the green card took anyway, once I had the EAD and AP, I was happy! Fingers crossed for you. Are you going to try a walk in for your biometrics? I did, as it was so close to where I live, and it sped up the process for me anyway, the EAD and Ap got approved 3 days after what would have been, my scheduled appointment.

The food is definitely what I miss the most being here! So I did gorge on goodies when I was home

Do you have Fresh and Easy supermarket on the East coast? Apparently it is owned by Tescos. I went in there the other day and they sell all kinds of english goodies, marmite, indian sauces and even, salad cream! And not too expensive!
