huzzah! I guess average time it takes to get a NOA1 is more than a week. Wonder why  ...it only took us 2 days to get a NOA1 for K1.

I am off tomorrow from work and will spend it doing the forms. :rolls up sleeves:

Hey did anyone see Eclipse yet? Sister, David, and I saw it today. Great, but 2 off things:

...actually, maybe I shouldn't post spoilers? Anyone care about that?

Or maybe it is more likely that I should be :bonk: for even mentioning it

For the record and in defense, though, I think that Edward/Bella is an unhealthy relationship at times...and at others, abusive! I wonder why I'm drawn into it...no indication of hubby though :luv: David was super excited because he's never been to a midnight release before; I guess they're not very common in the UK. He complained about the ####### seating arrangement though and said UK theaters are much better.

I cannot WAIT to see Eclipse!! Will go with my mom, I doubt Phill will go with me. lol He doesn't care for the series. Maybe if I reward him nicely though.... ;) Midnight releases are so much fun! I did that with the third Harry Potter movie. Phill and I went to the movies twice while I visited him in England and both times we went late enough in the evening and the movies we saw had been out awhile, so we pretty much had the entire theater to ourselves. Love it when that happens. :D

QEII is coming to the UN on July 6, two days after the anniversary of "that nasty little rebellion."

We may make her happy by repealing the Declaration of Independence

or re-enacting the Boston Tea Party. She was born a few weeks before

my mom who is also going strong. I hope she writes a book some day,

to finally put to rest all that "factual" stuff in the tabloids.

I fully expect HRH's status is well adjusted.

Tally ho, & all that.

LOL it's okay, my mom is almost 50 and she's the one who got me into Twilight! We're going to see it on Friday. Congrats on the greencard! We sent our AOS packet and it was delivered on July 1st, but haven't heard anything since. I'm guessing because of the holiday weekend.

ok i went and saw the film on sunday, and just because he made a good case, I'm now team Jaccob. the dialogue was a bit weird in parts, but I loved the film. yeah i got the greencard, i'm trying to use it, ie go over to canada for a few minutes then come back . lol. I also passed my driving test today, so i'm stoked. onward and upward.

Glad you liked the movie! Yeah, I think I'm a bit torn between the two. LOL Let us know how the greencard works! Woohoo on the driving test! And just because you mentioned it, how did you go about doing it? Did you have to actually drive with someone or was it just a written test? Phill has a British driving license and we're curious what he'll have to do. We haven't called the main office about it yet...just curious what you had to do.

robert pattinson is hot. hahah. what did you say... oh yeah what i did...well it doesnt matter that he has a driving licence from england he will still have to do the test. what will happen he will do a written test and because he had a full licence they will waive the 30 day waiting period ( maybe and this depends on the state) AND allow him to take the test right away. usa tests are a piece of pi ss. i parralled parked in the parking lot ( with no cars, mind, just cones) and i backed, reversed into a parking bay. then i drove around for 30 mins, went on the interstate, drove around some residential bits and went back to the office, and i'd passed. it was a far cry from england thats for sure, no really difficult moves, and no freaking roundabouts. what state are you in? check the secretary of state for your state for the rules. hope that helps.

oh the test cost 40 dollars.

Sounds pretty straight to the point. I remember Phill telling me how hard the British driving test is and that the USA test is pretty simple. We're in Kansas and our local DMV has told me they don't handle that, so we'll have to go an hour away to the bigger office to get it done I think. Thanks for the tip, I'll check out the state's website and see what info I can dig up!

How long normally does it take for the USCIS to get back in touch with you after they've received the AOS packet? They still haven't cashed my check and we've not heard a thing. Granted it's only been a week or so and we had the holiday weekend during that week. I'm just curious how long some of you had to wait before you got the email/text messages...

Hi everyone! Congrats to Beatlesrebel for sending off your AOS package! Yay!

Well, the wedding was two weeks ago this sunday so I have been a little (ahem... that's the understatement of the century) pre-occupied for the last few weeks but I have a couple of pics I thought I'd share with you all! It was a wonderful day and I'm so happy that finally at last we're husband and wife! Ahhh now to sort out our own AOS package!

Check out the english afternoon tea! :D

Rachel you look GORGEOUS!! congratulations  !!

We have all the paperwork done, just need to go to staples to make copies of everything. I've been working some extra shifts at the hospital and unfortunately David can't drive so it's been all on me...he was nice enough to walk over to a CVS though and get the passport photos done.

For the financial stuff I'm sending in my 2009 tax transcript and a couple of current pay stubs. I need to do a little more research on whether this will be enough. I make a lot more than the poverty line level and my job is very stable and my 2008 transcript only shows that I made $20k since I only worked for a couple of months since I had graduated from college that year. And <$10k in 2007, lol.

We decided to take the risk of having the interview in September if it comes despite the fact that we will be in Seattle for one week and Hawaii for two weeks. We will have to buddy up with one our neighbers to check our mail. I don't know them at all since I work the night shift and I come home around 8am and the leave around 6pm--they've all left by 7am and probably get home by 5pm. The problem is that we want to be able to have David apply for FAFSA since he is applying for graduate school (masters in teaching) and the cut-off date is February 15th and he has to be a permanent resident in order to apply. Because the AOS has no definitive time line we wanted to apply as soon as possible for that to give us extra time just in case. If he doesn't have the green card by next June when the program starts, we'd have to show the entire tuition, room and board up front, and cannot be in loans. I even asked the lady about the room and board--you know I pay my rent each month but I don't necessarily pay the entire year in advance; I couldn't afford that. But it doesn't matter, apparently you need to show the everything up front.

If we have the interview sometime in September (it's something like 82 days between now and when we get back), we'll just fly back from Hawaii to D.C. ...one-way tickets are currently like $350, so it would be a pain, but not as bad if we were trying to have $20k of tuition and $12k room/board up front.

Hopefully we'll get the biometrics appointment before September 6th, something like 60 days from now. Our local office in Alexandria apparently does walk-ins though, so if we get the appointment notice for September we can try to do it earlier.

UGH. I hate immigration. If the case does take longer than usual, I'm hoping to appeal to my state senators with that David is going to be a high school physics teacher, PLEASE let us get the green card soon!

Sorry guys. Needed to vent :)

Holy crud that's crazy! How can they expect anyone in this economy to have all of that up front?? I hate immigration too, I'll be so glad when it's over. Here's hoping that your case will fly by and you won't run into any trouble!!! *crosses fingers* No need to be sorry, that's what we're here for!! *hugs*

Beatle, you look beautiful! yay for pictures! :) I will put up one of our civil ceremony ones when I get home; I'm at work right now.

The whole tuition thing: I understand it from the point of view that if you came here on a student visa and you weren't coming here to immigrate, you would have to show that you can finish out the school year with adequate funds and have somewhere to live...it's just frustrating because of this in-between status where he has no green card, but can work and travel, yet can't apply for student loans.

Maybe I should have convinced him to come in April  and we could have started the paperworkthen

He's a bit put out if we have to cut the honeymoon short but the DC office looks like it's slower than most other local offices and closer to the 120 day average than the 90 days that some places have.

Yeah, it's too bad they can't redo the rules for the K-1 circumstances. I'm sure people would scream that's not fair though. Blah. :(

That really stinks. Do you have the honeymoon booked already?

Saw the new Twilight movie this afternoon! OMG it was SO GOOD!!! Bought the soundtrack tonight. :D
