Well, I made it from initial filing to interview date in just shy of seven months (I initially filed in the second week of August, my interview is in two and a half weeks). The wait time to get an interview has been notoriously long in recent times, but seems to have gotten better... It's really hard to say. Since there are three distinct bodies you have to work through (USCIS, NVC and the Embassy), each with their own varying wait times, there's no hard and fast method of determining when one's interview will be. But there was nothing special about my process -- the USCIS and NVC portions went through quite quickly (again, the speed of the NVC portion was surely due in part to Electronic Processing), but I did have to wait exactly ten weeks to get an interview date assigned.

If Montreal has indeed picked it up with their scheduling, then six-to-eight months is a safe ballpark estimate. But all cases differ. I just wish I could say it with any more assurance than "ballpark" and "estimate".
