he called qatar embassy in philippines and they told him they have no idea how long it will take for his police clearance to arrive in the philippines if he got it through them.

The HR department of the Qatar Staffing agency's office in Qatar can also get this Police Clearance Report initiated on HIS behalf IN Qatar. If he still has a contact within HR, he might want to contact them, get THEM to do it. Might cost a small handling charge - but you won't know, until HE asks them.

IMO, it smells like he got incompetent person at the Qatar Embassy. I suggest he call back, and ask to speak to someone else, even a supervisor.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

thanx so much guys for the comments. i spoke with my fiance yesterday after he verified all those charges with the agency. those extra taxes they were going to charge him was for the airfare. because he went to them for help, he is obligated to buy his airfare with them as soon as he is set to leave the philippines. but they are charging him 9,500 pesos to help him with the whole process. the reason being is that he worked in qatar for 2 yrs and he needs his police clearance in qatar. he called qatar embassy in philippines and they told him they have no idea how long it will take for his police clearance to arrive in the philippines if he got it through them. the agency he consulted in was going to help him with the process so "supposedly" he would receive his qatar police clearance faster. so i don't know what to do. is his qatar police clearance that's holding us back. i want to schedule him for his interview, but what if he doesn't receive his qatar police clearance on time???

This is the same agency who got him his job in Qatar, and is now offering to help in his visa?

You was told what you need to do, why do you keep messing with this agency? the only thing that's holding you back is them.

According to the Dept. of State's schedule of reciprocity - for Qatar police clearance"

Former residents should write to the Department of Public Security and General Administration, Ministry of Interior, P.O. Box 920, Doha, State of Qatar supported by the following documents:

  • A letter requesting the issuance of a Police Clearance Certificate from the State of Qatar. The letter should include the purpose in requesting the Police Clearance Certificate, the first date of arrival of the person in Qatar and the last date of departure.
  • A complete photocopy of all pages of the passport (include copies of all pages, regardless of entries).
  • A set of fingerprints taken by a competent government authority from the applicant's current place of residence.
  • 3 passport-size photographs.
  • A self-addressed return envelope large enough to hold an A4 size document.
  • The Police Clearance Certificate will be issued in about two weeks and will be mailed to the applicant.

hey guys, i need ur help!!it's more for people who are filing in US embassy in manila. i had a few questions to ask u guys. how much do we need to spend all together?? i know u need to pay $131 at any BDO branch for the visa processing fee and $213.35 for medical. is there any other fees to be paid aside from these two?? i'm just confused. my fiance went to an agency to get a quote of how much he will need all together and they told him he'll be needing approx. 42,000 pesos, which is approx $930. it seems like it doesn't add up to me. they were also saying we need to pay some kind of US tax for $180. and other charges. i don't know. it just seems like too much money. is this a scam?? sorry to bother u all with these questions. hope someone could help me. thank u so much =)

131.00 for i-130

400.00 for visa app

75.00 for AOS processing

213.35 for medical

10.00 for visa delviery (give or take a couple of dollars)

my total is: $796.00 for I-130

Different total for K3 visa, alot more for K3 in the long run and alot more paper work.
