I just found out that the Police and Birth Certificate need to be translated.

Does anyone know where I can have this done ?

As far as I know it doesn't need to be translated.

I translated my anyway, but in my case, I need to send them to NVC.

The Rio Consulate will accept documents in both english and portuguese, so if they are in those languages, you shouldn't have to translate them. If they are in another language other than those, then they need translation.

Oasis, if your fiancé is a Brazilian citizen and has only lived in Brazil (or Portugal, or any other country whose primary language is Portuguese), those documents do not need to be translated. If he's lived abroad or is not Brazilian, his birth certificate and police records will need to be translated into English or Portuguese (and since I believe the BC at least needs to be resubmitted with the AOS, you may as well get them translated to English).

Contact the Brazilian embassy for the country in question to locate a certified translator in Brazil.

Where did you find this information? Could you mention the source? Other people reading your post may be worried reading this.

The Police and Birth Certificate must be original (and copy) and no need to be translated.

The birth certificate only need to be translated for AOS.

ALL documents at Rio Embassy are accepted in both English and Portuguese.

Sorry I dont want to spread wrong info here thats for sure.

Where did I get this info from. From other people that went thru the process.

But according to the Department of State Site we DONT need these translated:

I am very sorry about the confusion. Next time I will contact the consulate directly to get the correct info.

You won't need translations for this part of the process, but I do recommend getting a notarized translation of your BC for the AOS process after US arrival. You'll need it then.

I had my birth certificate translated in Brazil by a public translator and it cost me R$75, and for the marriage license R$90. (we got married in BR).
