Package 3 can be found online at the Ciudad Juarez website. I think Lia792 posted the link above. And for the case #, both Lia792 and I emailed CDJ using their inquiry form (again posted by LIa792 above) and they responded by email within the time frame with the case #. Good luck!

Hi Lia 792. Just realized it was you who left me this thoughtful response! Wanted to make sure I said thanks! As you know, we have processed my FM3, are married and are getting ready to hand deliver our 130 in person at the end of the month. Thanks for all your help!

Thank you so much Jaremedios for your thoughtful response. I have this gut feeling about DCF, I don't know why! I just feel like it is the way to go. So yes, I have been living in Mexico for the last 2 years continuously and on and off for the last 5. I think I am just going to go on Monday and get my FM3 and permiso para matrimonio (I am a US citizen). While waiting for the FM3, get married, and try and get my I130 in as soon as I get my FM3. Has anyone had bad experiences with sending the I130 to Mexico via mail, should I try to hand deliver? And where could I read recommendations about the I130? I know you all are much further along ;-) Thanks again!

does anyone know of any hotels in cd. juarez that are near the consulate or clinic? everything ive read says that people pay dhl for visa delivery, how long does it take? cant a person cross the border the day that they approve them for a visa?

Posted (edited)

Please read the Accommodations section of www.smf.juarez-mexico.com for places to stay. We are using La Quinta. DHL can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Once your visa gets to DHL, you can cross if you want, but you don't have to.

Hi everyone. Sorry if I keep posting in the wrong place/way. I am heading to Mexico City this weekend to turn in our 130 on Monday and am wondering how to get the cashier's check. Obviously we should get it before we go right? So I go to Banamex with the quantity in pesos, they convert it and draw it in dollars? Or how does it work? And if for some reason they don't accept our application right now would they return the check? What would we do with it?

Thanks for any responses! You guys are the best ;-)

BTW, congrats Lia that you got an interview in July!!! That was not even 3 months?!!?!?!? AWESOME!

Two more favors: does anyone have a copy of their translated certificates they could share? The only thing I need to translate to English is our marriage certificate, right?

And how did you guys deal with the fact that when you print the 130, you can't see the whole year on the birthdates/marriage date?

Thanks SOO much!

ps- I saw Lia's interview date below her name...is that right? I hope so! its great news ;-)

Hi Everybody! I haven't posted in awhile due to drawbacks in our process: We sent our I-130 via DHL to DF on March 1, and after 3 weeks of not hearing from them I called. They said they had no record of it which probably meant the packet had missing documents and they probably sent it back to me on March 2, and to wait three to four weeks for the slow mail. Four weeks later, after hearing nothing, I called back and asked for it again. They said it was sent out the SAME DAY as I called (approx. March 25). I waited another couple weeks and decided it was lost, and it sounded like DF really didn't know anything about it to begin with. So, discouraged, my husband and I put the packet together again and flew to Mexico City on May 23 to ensure it was properly received.

Today marked the day, four weeks and three days after turning it all in again, that I was going to call and start the whole song and dance again. When I got home I checked the mailbox and I was more than surprised to find a LETTER FROM CIUDAD JUAREZ in the mail!! It said they'd received the I-130 and also included our case number! I couldn't believe it! It turns out after our bad luck with Mexico City, we're having good luck with Ciudad Juarez!

We'd been told 6-8 months when we turned in the paperwork in DF, and now I'm seeing people who are getting their interview dates 5-6 weeks after they turn in packet 3! That gives me hope we could be moving back to the USA six months earlier than planned!

In conclusion, I would like to add a big THANK YOU to everyone who continues to update their statuses on here. I really appreciate everything you have to say and it really makes me feel better about the whole thing! Good luck to everyone!

Congratulations !! great news !... I will start the whole process next month, in Monterrey COnsulate told me the same: 6 to 8 months.. but I hope that will be much less !

The letter from Cd Juarez indicates a appointment date? or just said they received the I-130?..what is next for you after received the letter?.. send some information to them?

I just want to know what to expect after the I-130 is approved.

Thanks :)

The letter said that they'd received "evidence entitling you immigrant visa status (the I-130)..." and also included a case number and priority date as well. It also included a link to Packet 3 on their website:

http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/immigrant-visa-and-fiancee-visa-forms.html

Here you can find the instructions for the next step. I was really surprised when I saw Lia792 got her appointment date so fast! My letter did not include an appointment because you have to send the forms from Packet 3 before they assign you one. We'll get them in the mail next week and start waiting!

Good luck to you!

Please read the Accommodations section of www.smf.juarez-mexico.com for places to stay. We are using La Quinta. DHL can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Once your visa gets to DHL, you can cross if you want, but you don't have to.

Congrats on the interview! My husband just mailed his packet 3 in on June 11 and I called yesterday and was told he has his interview appt Aug 4th -- they said he needed to be there 2 days early for the medical and after the interview if he is approved, his DHL packet can take anywhere from 24-96 hours to be sent. I remember reading that they only DHL to you at your hotel in CDJ but won't send it to you outside of CDJ. Do you have any insight on this -- I was under the impression that you usually received the DHL stuff that day or the next day. I suppose we could make the reservation for the hotel and air for a couple of days after the interview and just pay to change the return to an earlier date if he gets his packet earlier.

Please post after the interview if you have a chance to let us know how it went and how long it took for the DHL pkg to be delivered.

Good luck!

LOL thanks although PAV was actually the first of the recent DCFers, then claireg is there right now, and we are next.

The DHL goes from the consulate to one of two DHL offices in Ciudad Juarez. Some people also choose to use a power of attorney and have a service pick up the visa at DHL then mail it to them. My husband will actually be in CJ for more than a week so hopefully we won't have to re-schedule anything.

We will do a review after the interview and I also recommend following claireg and reviews at www.smf.juarez-mexico.com.

Hopefully claireg will post - and I'm looking forward to your post too in the next couple of weeks. The smf.juarez website has good info for the hotels, but it seems like they are mostly people who are having waivers processed so it's a little different circumstances.

I just moved to the US in April so I could get started working and sign my teacher contract for next year so I included that information in the Packet 3 that my husband mailed from Cozumel to CDJ. Surprisingly I just received a letter in the mail from the US Consulate ackowledging they received the packet and that it was complete and that an interview packet would come next. Problem is, my husband in MX has not received the same letter and I'm leaving this Friday for Cozumel so if they mailed his appt. interview packet to me in the US as well, I guess we will have to have it Fedex'ed down to Mexico. Did you in the US and your husband in MX both receive info packets or just him or you? Since I indicated that my husband was still residing in MX I'm confused as to why they would sent the info to me in the US since he is the one going on the interview and he's in MX????
