lucasrk, a list would be a real time saver. If you don't mind posting we would appreciate it greatly. Congrats on receiving the green card!

Let me know if you would like a list of what my husband and I included with the 260 for the interview. It was quite a process of getting everything together.

Best of luck!

BTW, we received my husband's official plastic Greencard last week, just a little over a month after entering the US with his temporary passport stamp. They said it would be 3-6 months!

If you are in the Guadalajara area and need a cheque de caja in Dollars, in English, and from a US Bank, go to the CI Banco inside Galerias mall. Not all CI Bancos will do it, but the one in galerias will. Some are more like banks like Bancomer, etc., and others are more like exchange places like at the airport. This one is the latter.

Sorry I cant help you with that..But I do have a question.. Are you setting your own appointment date or did the consulate in Juarez do it for you?

Im just one step behind you in the process and Im not sure what comes next.

Good luck.

As per their instructions, we are setting the appointment. I just can't decide whether to try and get the visa in Juarez or have it sent to our town in Mexico.

Yes, you have to make your own appointment for the interview, and also an appointment for processing the day before. Two days before the interview you also need to the medical exam. You can't make and appointment (though someone at the embassy told me you could --- they were wrong) as it is first come first served. We went super early (like 6:00 am) and it took 3-4 hours.

We had my husband's visa sent to the DHL office in DF (where we live) and it took like five days. Very easy. I believe if you don't want to have it sent it means staying another few days in Juarez.

I don't remember which page, but I believe someone posted something about a DHL office NOT to use in Juarez in this fórum. You might check some of the earlier posts.

I included tax records for the past three years and bank statements to show my savings.

My mother included tax records, pay stubs from her job, mortgage statements, and bank statements.

Since I was still working in Mexico and didn't have a huge savings in the states, it was more important for my mom to show her financial stability.

In the interview my husband was not even asked about our future plans in the states. They asked if I was working in Mexico, but not about future jobs.

Hi All,

We're in Juarez with our interview appointment set for Thursday. We're staying at the La Quinta Inn which is a couple of blocks away from the consulate. There are other hotels that are closer (a Holiday Inn Express, an Ibis, a Quality Inn, come to mind) and within easy walking distance, but are probably a little pricier. La QUinta has a shuttle, but we are not using it as we ended up driving here. Overall, the area seems safe enough and the security at the hotel is very good.

Today, we did the medical exam. We had to go today since my stepson needed to get a TB test and there is a three-day waiting period to get the result. We got up this morning and had breakfast at the hotel (it was actually good) and then drove over to the clinic at 7:00 am. There were not a ton of people there and we ended up going to the Clinica Medical Internacional. That is the first clinic closest to the road. You actually enter into a large waiting area in the second building from the road and then they take people across a street to the other building where the exams take place. Upon enter, they took our appointment letters and my wife and son's passports and we filled out a very simple form with our address and contact information in Mexico. We also had to put an address for the U.S. My wife also had to list the birth dates of our kids. After filling those forms, she was taken to the front of the room and waited for a couple of minutes and then was taken up to a booth where they were photographed and fingerprinted. My wife doesn't speak Spanish well but they got someone to interpret for her into English. After doing that, they both took an eye exam and sat for a couple of minutes, then were escorted across the street for the exams. I stayed with our youngest son in the waiting room. They left about 7:30. About an hour later, I was paged to go to the cashier (my wife left the credit card with me) and I went across the street to give it to her and she paid the bill.

She told me that the people at the clinic were very nice and they made sure that someone was there to speak English to her at every step of the way. Her and my son were put in a line with women and children. She had the exams, blood drawn, an xray and three vaccines. My son also got the exam and three vaccines but didn't have to have blood drawn. He did, however, need a TB test. They told her we could go back today and pick up her results at 2pm. We need to wait until Wed to get the results for the TB test.

We have the ASC appointment scheduled for Wednesday at 12:50 and the interview on Thursday at 7:45. We'll check back in when we get more information.

Thank you Chuck for the information.

So guys, in my case, CR1 visa, how much time before i have to get the medical exam?

For example, can I get it on Monday, ASC Tuesday and in Wednesday the interview? or is it recommended to get the medical with more days before?

Based on our experience and that of others in this forum, I think you can safely do it the day before the interview. Of course, an extra day just in case something goes awry might not be a bad idea either. My wife checked in at 7:15, was done by 8:30 and got the results at 2:00 pm. There were not a ton of people there, so more traffic will probably slow those times down a bit.
