I'm a US national who currently lives in Merida Mexico with my fiancee. I am looking for the fastest way to get her to the US with me so I can get back to work, and care for my 17 year old son living by himself in my US house. I have been here for a little over a month and have utilities in my name, but no FM2. Can I use DCF to reduce the processing time? We haven't married yet because the Mexican officials need an apostile for my birth certificate. I am not sure if things will be quicker if we were married or not.

hello there,

i would suggest getting married and then filing dcf, the process seems to be very fast compared to doing it in the US. ask to talk to the top boss about the birth certificate matter. the people at the registro civil told me my birth certificate wasn't right, but after going to the top person in monterrey, he said it was fine. it's just the typical bureaucratic stuff...

the fiance visa process seems to take a lot longer....

Hi!

I'm a US Citizen with dual Mexican/American citizenship. I got married June 16th 2012 and getting ready to DCF in Mexico. I'm kind of stuck in the process of the cashier's check since I can't find a single place where I can get one.

I'll post my timeline here but so far I'm about to file the I-130 for my wife.

What city are you in? I had the same problem. I finally found a banking clearinghouse that did it.

I'm living in Cuautitlan Izcalli, which is about 1 hour away from the embassy. May I ask where you got your cashier's check?

Congratulations on being approved!

I re-read this and WOW! That was fast! Maybe you should post your timeline, it seems the whole timeframe got a lot shorter in the past year. Congrats again!

Hello, I have my appointment next week (12/26) and i'm getting really nervous, because i don't know if everything i have is enough for the appointment. In the instruction packet it doesn't say enough information on what to take, but so i have research and need to know if this requirements are enough. Thanks!

In order to expedite the processing of the case on the day of the interview, please bring the following documents arranged in the order listed below.
1. Form DS-260 (Biographic Information Form) confirmation of completion printed from the internet
2. Petitioner’s original long form birth certificate (not abstract) and applicant’s birth certificate. Applicants with non-English or non-Spanish birth certificates must submit a notarized translation with the original.
3. Original marriage certificate (if applicable);
4. Original proof of termination of all previous marriages of both the applicant and petitioner (if applicable);
5. Form I-864 affidavit of support, with supporting documentation that proves the individual offering to support the applicant earns the amount of money indicated on the affidavit. Documentation can include proof of legal status in the United States, employment letter, most recent tax forms, and/or recent pay slips.
6. I-797 form approval notice (optional).
7. If you have obtained any type of U.S. non-immigrant visa (for example, tourist visas, border crossing cards, student visas, etc.), bring those with you to the appointment.

This packet of documents must be accompanied by a valid Mexican passport issued by the Mexican Secretariat of Foreign Relations (S.R.E. Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores) or Mexican Consulate, the results of the applicant’s medical examination, and two color photographs of each applicant taken within six months of the interview date. The applicant should be facing the camera directly, and hats and headgear are not authorized unless worn daily for religious reasons. The photograph can be no larger than two inches (five centimeters) square with the face centered in the frame. The head of the applicant measured from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin should measure one to one and three-eighths inches (2.5 to 3.4 cm), and the distance from the bottom of the picture to the eyes must be between one and one-eighth inches and one and three-eighths inches (2.8 to 3.4 cm). The photo must be taken against a white or off-white background. Photos should be printed without borders on glossy paper and must not be retouched. Electronic copies are not acceptable. ALL APPLICANTS NEED PHOTOS, NO MATTER THE AGE HAVE.
Please do not staple the above-mentioned documents. Use a large clip to keep your documents together and in the above order. All original birth and marriage certificates, divorce decrees, and death certificates will not be returned at the end of the interview.

Hi Charlie&Nellie,

I am wondering if you could tell us how it went for you in Juarez. We just received a letter from the Consulate saying that my wife is eligible to make her appointment. I am unclear as to what we are making an appointment for. Is it the ASC, the interview, the medical exam or all of the above? I don't want to have to travel to Juarez more than once if it can be avoided!

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Michael and Miriam

Hello,

You make the ASC and interview app online at the same time. Before you do the app. you have to fill out the DS260 online. This is where you make your appts... https://usvisa-info.com/es-mx/selfservice/ss_country_welcome You will need to create an account. You do not need to make an app for the medical. I believe they are open M-F 6am-11am. Here are the steps http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/iv_steps.html

Hope this helps :)

Hi Michael and Miriam:

In Juarez everything went really smooth. Once you received that letter from the Consulate you go ahead and make the appointments, you have to create and account. You must have an appointment at the Applicant Service Center and an appointment for your consular interview. Here is a link: https://usvisa-info.com/en-MX/selfservice/ss_country_welcome.

Then fill the DS260 (A little time consuming). Here is the link to fill this form: https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx . Your wife must fill out and submit the form online. Print the confirmation page and take that page to your interview.

Start to gather all the documents to show at you Consular interview, one of the most important the Affidavit of Support (form I 864).

For the medical you do not need to make an appointment, there are 2 clinics just across from the Consulate, you just go 1 day before your interview early in the morning and they will give your wife's results by noon. They will give her 4 vaccinations. Medical and vaccinations will be close to 400 dollars.

I suggest you guys to stay close to the Consulate, that makes the visa process a little bit less stressful, make prior reservations. I got a pretty good deal with tickets and hotel for 4 days at ebookers.com. They give you a huge discount if you book flight and hotel together. We stayed at Quality Inn Hotel, very nice hotel, only half a block from the Consulate. Also, i heard the Ibis hotel is very affordable.

The day of the interview only your wife can enter the Consulate. They will ask her to pay the interview, i don't remember the amount, it's about $165. Once the visa is approved they will send it within a couple days.

Good luck on your process. God bless you!

Nelly and Charlie.
