Hi sarashell,

If the Embassy needs something additional they will contact you by mail to request the missing documents. Unless something changes, the next step is a packet that you will need to send to Cuidad Juarez. I think they call it Packet 3 or Packet 4 something like that. It incluedes the I-864 packet. After that packet is received and approved, you should not have to send anything else.

Continued good luck...

Sorry to be a TOTAL pain but here is my problem. I got the first letter but never got the second letter. I called and they said the second letter was sent to my US address and was never received...weird that I got the one that they sent to Mexico and not the US. Anyway, they said to email to get all my numbers. I did that and I was able to fill out my info online to get an appt. which we have for May 20th. My problem is that you are saying that I need to send another packet in and from my understanding I just need to send packet 3/4 with my husband to his interview. HELP NOW IM REALLY CONFUSED!!!!

Don't stress!! Just do exactly what they tell you and you should be okay. If I remember correctly we had to actually send in a second packet with the I-864 and some other stuff we completed online. But when I was doing all this I was uncertain as well because some people told me that they never had to complete some of the paperwork, etc. My experience could very well be different from yours... just do what they tell you to do and things should work out okay. From your reaction I'm remembering how confused I was too. Now that you mention it, there didn't seem to be a standard process. Could be due to plain craziness or could be that the process is constantly changing so that what was valid a few months ago has already changed! Good luck, don't sress - it will all work out in the end! Sorry if what I wrote confused you, but that was my experience. It may very well not be yours!

sarashell...i think the process has changed very recently and now we don't have to send anything in... they just take it to the interview. it makes the process much faster.... if you find anything else out when you call, please let me know. my husband has his interview on may 9...and i haven't sent anything in to anyone!

OK GOOD! Yeah I called and they said you don't send anything else in. I just find it weird since the I-894 is so complex seems like they would need to review that info before hand...but NOPE :)

Hey to those of you that have been to Juarez already...

Did any of you go just for the days that you had to be there? I mean I hear that people go early and leave a day late. Is that really necessary? Our appt is a Tuesday and planning on doing the medical on Monday. Is that enough time? Did anyone have to stay an extra day for anything? Did you buy a roundtrip ticket or just one-way? We are doing the biometrics in GDL so that does cut out one day. Any advice would be appreciated before we buy the plane tickets!!!

my husband is there right now...he got there on sunday night, then went to the medical exam on monday morning first thing. we scheduled a day in between the medical exam and the interview in case they needed to do extra psychological evaluations or drug testing...turns out he didn't need any extra testing, so he could have done without being there today (but maybe it is better to be safe than sorry, because some people have not been able to get their results on the same day due to extra testing - but if he says he has never tried drugs and doesn't have any tattoos or mental illness history then you will be fine without the extra day). his interview is tomorrow at 7:15 a.m. (wish us luck!!!) then his flight back to monterrey is at 8:15 tomorrow night. so, he's not planning on staying after the interview date for anything. you used to have to, because they wouldn't send your visa to anywhere else other than juarez, but now things have changed and you can have it sent back to GDL or wherever... i'll keep you posted with any other info as i get it!!

AWESOME! Can't wait to hear how it went for him in the interview! What time did he get to the medical? I didn't schedule a day in between so I'm just hoping we will be OK!

Hi- Am brand new here, working on navigating through... not sure where to post? I started a new topic but now am not sure I should have...

Sorry in advance, because I'm sure everything I need is likely covered somewhere in the forum, but I've lost my way thru the site. So please forgive the assumed repetitiveness and ask your patience in guiding me to the right places here. I'll catch on quickly!

I am a US citizen living in Mexico with my Mexican National husband. We were married here in Mexico. We are going to be applying thru dcf for a green card for my husband, with myself as sponsor. We live in the State of Queretaro and so per the information I have, I believe we will have to file our papers in Mexico City. I have the instructions/info, etc. for filling out the application forms. It does state that all documents in Spanish need to be translated into English. How do I get my husband's birth certificate translated into English here in Mexico?? Can I do it, or does it have to be a formal, sealed translation (as per what I had to do with my docs being translated into Spanish when we got married)? I guess that would apply as well to our bank statements, utility bills, etc.?

Thank you so much and look forward to moving thru this process.

I don't know if I'm the only one but I did not translate anything. Hopefully someone else had the same experience and can back my experience up. When you go to Juarez for the interview it says you only have to translate the docs if they are NOT in English or Spanish. Hope that helps! ...and welcome!

Yeah... for the I-130 in Monterrey it said we needed to have our wedding certificate translated (I had it done at the University here - UANL.) But, I'm not sure if I could've gotten away without having it translated - they did make copies of the translation in MTY.

Like Sarahshell said, in Juarez, you won't need to have anything translated as long as it is in Spanish or English.
