Hi-

Brand new here to the forum, looking forward to chatting with you all. I am a US citizen, married to a Mexican National. We live in Tequisquiapan, Queretaro. I've done a bit of research and looked over the application information and hope that we will be able to get my husband's green card without too much pain! :)

Here's the info as regards both the filing fee and mailing address. This information was received via email, directly from USCIS Mexico Field Office, and I quote:

Avenida Paseo de la Reforma 305 Rm 118

Colonia Cuauhtemoc

Delegacion Cuauhtemoc

Mexico, DF CP 6500

$420 USD filing fee by Cashier's check or US Postal Money ORder, payable to DHS/USCIS. You may buy the Cashier's check at a Casa de Cambio where they're also known as "Cheque Propio". (WE cannot acept checks/money orders from HSBC bank).

Hope this helps you both. I'll be learning along with you all.

Hey DCFers!!!

Ok. So to keep everyone up to date. My husband and I went to Mexico City Field office to file in person on Feb 28. We handed in everything and we got a cashier's check "cheque propio" at the casa de cambio "tiber" which is just a block away. Everything went smoothly and quickly. We received our approval letter today in the mail. (About 3 weeks later.) So now we are just waiting on hearing from Juarez and getting the packet 3 ready. Oh, to the affidavit of support---not looking forward to filling it out.

Good luck everyone!!

Hi Everybody,

Getting ready to file and will have a few questions. Going to go to the Tijuana Consulate next week to inquire in person but hope to get some insight from everyone on the board.

I am US Citizen married to a Mexican National. We live in Ensenada, B.C., I have my FM3, she has a Mexican Passport, her son does not have a passport and we are having a tough time getting him a passport(long story). Is a passport necessary for my step son? A few years ago I read on this board that it was not needed for step children but I can't find the post.

Thank you in advance for your wisdom and guidance.

When I filed, they did ask for my wife and kid's passport.

They mainly want this for identification purposes

Is this the address I can use to send a packet DHL? Sorry but I do not have a lot of faith the Mexican Post Office.

DCF Where to file? Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara?

Reading through this forum it appears you can file DCF in the above offices. Is one quicker than the other?

I live in Ensenada, BC and it appears I am under the Service Area of the Mexico City Field Office BUT their web page information states: "United States citizens who reside in Mexico with Migration Form (FM) - 2 or 3 may file a Petition for Alien Relative (Form I-130) at the Mexico City District Office by mail or in person during normal business hours."

Does it really matter which consulate receives my application?

CR1 and Stepchild? Does a Child Have Derivative Status?

Reading the instructions for the I-130 I am confused if I need to file a separate form for the 10 year old son of my wife. I have not adopted him so he would be classified my stepchild.

The instructions for filing I-30 are not clear on how to file for a stepchild.

Thank you in advance for your response.

Welcome!!

To answer your question, the auto reply email from USCIS Mexico states:

(Mexico.USCIS@uscis.dhs.gov)

If the U.S. citizen lives in within our jurisdiction (Mexican States of Campeche, Chiapas, Colima, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Mexico, Michoacan, Morelos, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Puebla, Queretaro, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, Tlaxcala, Veracruz, Yucatan, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora and Sinaloa), he/she should file Form I-130 USCIS Mexico City Field Office.

Other Jurisdictions:

USCIS Ciudad Juarez Field Office: Chihuahua and Durango.

USCIS Monterrey Field Office: Aguascalientes, Coahuila, Leon, Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas.

You may also mail your application to our physical address:

Avenida Paseo de la Reforma 305 Room 118

Colonia Cuauhtemoc

Delegacion Cuauhtemoc

Mexico DF C.P. 6500

So, it looks like you file in at the Mexico City Field Office at the address above. I hope that helps you! Good luck!

Hi Guadmom,

Thank you for this information. I am a little confused because the website for the Mexico City Field Office states:

"Form I-130

United States citizens who reside in Mexico with Migration Form (FM) - 2 or 3 may file a Petition for Alien Relative (Form I-130) at the Mexico City District Office by mail or in person during normal business hours."

When did you receive the email from USCIS?

quick question - i am still living in mexico with my husband, and hope to until he is approved so we can both move together. we plan to live with my parents when we go to the US. that is my domicile - my driver's license address, bank and credit card statement address, etc... HOWEVER, i believe i will be officially unemployed while filling out the paperwork, because my income in Mexico won't count... and it's less than what is required to file US taxes, so i haven't filed taxes since tax year 2008. i thought my dad could just simply fill out the I-864a because we will be part of his household, but i'm not sure if him doing a joint sponsorship I-864 is better??? also, my mom doesn't have any income but is listed on his tax forms... will i need to do something with her as well??

i'm so confused! thanks for any advice you can give!
