I was in the same situation when I filed. The process had just changed. But the DS-260 is only for certain people, and only for those who filed with NVC. If you filed doing DCF that means that NVC didn't process your case.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_5164.html

If you have already submitted DS-230 that is the only thing you will need.

When I was there in Juarez, they too told me I needed DS-260 when I called, but when I went to the actual appointment (biometrics) office, they said if I have already delivered DS-230 then I didn't need anything else.

You know we DCFers are special :=)

However wait for more people to answer to this post. Maybe someone was able to fill out DS-260. But DS-260 replaces DS-230, so if they asked at first DS-230 that should make it. Just bring a copy of it to your interview, they will not even ask you for it, but take it just in case.

I assume you still have to go to your biometrics appointmnent?

Just go there the day before your appointment, or a couple of hours before your turn, and they will tell you you don't need it.

You know what, if Anatopia got her NVC invoice ID and she also filed DCF (which I think she did), then let's for her to reply who exactly she wrote to. And please disregard my previous post :) things may have changed a lot since I got my family's visa in april.

OK Ulises. Thanks, you've been very kind. I won't make any sudden moves (jeje). Changing my mailing address was good advice, by the way. About a week after I did it, we got a letter in the mail. I have you to thank for that.

Anatopia, I look forward to hearing from you about the email address you used. Also, if you could tell me if you had to mail in the DS-230 form (not the DS-260, the DS-230) I'd be interested to know. Thank you!

Timeline

this is my timeline. I filed my I130 in Monterrey Mexico.

October 10, 2011-shipped I130 overnight via UPS

October 12, 2011-I130 approved

October 19, 2011- sent to CDJ, waiting on further instructions. no receipt # as of yet.

November 7, 2011- CDJ emailed with a receipt #, we can make an appointment as soon as we can pay for the appointment.

December 14, 2011- appointment in Nuevo Laredo for ASC

December 21, 2011- first appointment in CDJ

when I did not get anything from them with my receipt #, I emailed them using this form: https://ciudadjuarez.cms.getusinfo.com/public_inquiry_form.html

within a few days I received this email back from them:

*** Do not reply to this email. The Consulate will only respond to inquiries made through the website inquiry form. We will do our best to respond within the next 10-15 business days. ***

Attention: Mrs.petitioner

Dear Mrs. petitioner

Thank you for your November 1, 2011, inquiry regarding the immigrant visa case of your husband, Mr. beneficiary (case CDJXXXXXXXXX).

Our records indicate that we have received Mr. beneficiary’s case for processing. And it has been registered under case number CDJxxxxxxx.

Please be advised that Mr. beneficiary is eligible to schedule an appointment to appear at our office by selecting the next available appointment at the http://mexico.usvisa-info.com website. Please advise your husband to log on and follow the instructions to schedule both an Applicant Service Center (ASC) appointment and a Consular interview. we are including a copy of the appointment notice as a courtesy to you.

Prior to attending the ASC and the consular interview, the applicant has to complete form DS-260 at http://ceac.state.gov/iv/. Mr. beneficiary will need the NVC case number and the invoice ID number in order to complete the DS-260. He may use the case number as the NVC case number. Further, our immigrant visa section has informed us that the invoice number for cases registered in our consular district, is the applicant's date of birth in the following format: Year, month, day (YYYYMMDD). Therefore, Mr. beneficiary's invoice ID number is xxxxxxxx.

For a more rapid reply, direct all inquiries through our online form at https://ciudadjuarez.cms.getusinfo.com/public_inquiry_form.html. Inquiries sent by mail or fax will face significant delays in processing.

Sincerely,

Consular Information Unit

U.S. Consulate General Ciudad Juarez, Mexico

hope that helps.

sharing my post from another forum on which I post, hope it helps!

I live in Mexico, almost two years now. I hold FMII status here as well. Due to that, I was able to file my I130 at the Monterrey Embassy here in Mexico which usually gives approval anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks. As soon as they approve the I130, they send my file to Juarez for a case number to be assigned. Once we have the case #, our process pretty much falls in line with everyone else. We by passed NVC all together by filing this way. We fill out the form on line and submit, set our appointment, go to Juarez for biometrics, medical and appointment and wait to file our waiver. However, our waiver is ready, and we are asking for an expedite to file the same day as his first appointment in Juarez due to extreme medical issues. Don't know if we will get it, but we can hope. My neurologist has already scheduled surgery for me and has send a letter and medical records to add to my waiver. I also have some other medical issues going on that are rather extreme. So we will see.

so far this is my timeline:

October 10, 2011-shipped I130 overnight via UPS

October 12, 2011-I130 approved

October 19, 2011- sent to CDJ, waiting on further instructions. no receipt number assigned as of yet.

November 7, 2011- CDJ emailed with a receipt #, we can make an appointment as soon as we can pay for the appointment.

December 14, 2011- appointment in Nuevo Laredo for ASC

December 21, 2011- first appointment in CDJ

we were told to go ahead and make our waiver appointment as well, not sure if it is because of the expedite request that has been requested every step of the way or what, but we have NOT made our waiver appointment as of yet. I can not find any more open appointments after the first of the year and the 21st of December is the last available appointment of this year, as you can see, he already has that one scheduled. We were also told that he could ask for the waiver to be filed that day and to turn it with the fee in at that time.

After my I130 was approved and sent to CDJ, we did not hear back from CDJ, no letter of instructions, nothing. so I emailed them to request our receipt number so I could continue on with our process. I have so far found CDJ to be fast, efficient, and very helpful! I am in awe of how helpful and nice they have been both on the phone and through email, however, I find I do get a faster response when I email them, and I also have something to print off and use as proof of the conversation should it ever become a question of what was said. Response time has been 2 days, more than fair to me seeing as I know they are very busy.

here is my correspondence with CDJ thus far, it is only their end of it since I do not have a copy of their end of it, I sent off the inquiry using their form here:

Attention: Ana XXXXXX

they sent his letter as an attachment with this email as well. the letter we would have received in the mail, that he must present at his medical and appointment.

We made his ASC appointment for here in Nuevo Laredo, he will do that a week before going to CDJ (Dec 14th). The day before his appointment (Dec 21) he will have his medical done in CDJ as everyone else does. Only difference will be the ASC appointment.

After I went onto the website and filled out the DS260 with my husband, I inquired once again, using the form on the website to find out the next step, I also made mention of the fact that we could NOT remember when he crossed over without inspection, that we had back tracked best we could, but that it was not an exact. Here is what I received:

Dear Ms. XXXXXX:

Thank you for your November 20, 2011 inquiry regarding the immigrant visa case of your husband, Mr. XXXXXXXX (case CDJXXXXXXXXXX).

Mr. XXXXXX may bring any pertinent documents at the time of his consular interview. At the time of the interview he can make any clarifications regarding the information on the DS-260. The visa application fee can be paid at the time of the appointment. For more information on the medical fees, forms of payment and the overall immigrant visa process, please visit our website at the following link: http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/...t_visas.html./

I post this information so that it may help others filing DCF. I am not sure how much longer it will be this way with all the new changes but for now, this seems to be the way it is going.

We will either move his appointment to Dec 20 and his waiver appointment to Dec 21 giving him Dec 19th for his medical, or we will move it all back to January so as to make one trip. Hope this helps.

One quick question: How long do we need to stay in CDJ after we finish the interview? We are planning to fly out the next morning Will this be okay or is there something I'm missing?

Hi OSOS, that will depend. If you request your visa to be sent to a DHL location not in Juarez, then it is ok to travel back even the same day after your interview. If you however have requested your visa to arrive at DHL in Cd Juarez, then you might have to way a couple of days, even 5 days. In my case, it took 3 days. I decided to wait because I was already in the States with my family, so it made no sense to send the visas to a location other than Juarez. If your interview is on Thursday or Friday, you might have to wait until the following week.

hola! boy am I glad I found this forum. Ive been searching for ppl going through dcf in Mexico City. I;m sorry to be a bother but i have a few questions about dcf and would really appreciate it if someone could help me out with getting some answers. I have a consultation with a lawyer tomorrow but want some real world answers and experiences that others have similiar to mine.

I'm a member of other sites with similiar forums but VJ seems to be the only place where thers talk of DCF. Anyways my husband is a a mexican citizen who ewi years ago. He recently went back to mexico on his own (just walked across the border on 03/2011) Well I am in USA and am considering moving to mexico city so we can be closer and also so we can DCF (if that is the best option) as that seems to be a must faster option. we married in Mexico City in 08/2011, have 3 children and own a home in USA(which my husband purchased in his name while he was here illegally). so here goes the questions:

1. I have read in other forums that mexico is a little flip floppy. i.e the sites says you need 3 months worth of bills/reside in the country for 6months but some of the USCIS offices in mexico do not go by these rules. sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. is this true?

2. I plan to get my fm (inmigrante familiar) visa when I get to mexico. can I take my 1-130 right away or do I have to wait?

3. Have any of you DCF ed through Mexico City field office? can you mail in the i-130? do I have to include a copy of my fm2/3 visa and utility bills if I mail it?

4.any advice or other experiences you have to share on DCF mexico city? I would be greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Hi Cocosebastian! Welcome to the forum. I can give you a bit of humble advice on your 3rd question. I would definately take your I-130 to Mexico City. It is much faster and many applicants receive an answer from USCIS in days as to whether they are accepted or denied with the I-130 part. My husband and I live in the Riviera Maya (state of Quintana Roo) and we mailed it. It slowed the process down at least 2 months. Probably more like 3. If you can, take it there personally. Good luck!

Ok. I am about to file my I-130 form in MX city. Is it faster in person or is it about the same by mail? Also where can I get a cashier's check here in Mexico? I can not seem to find a place or can I pay in cash at the embassy?

Thanks!

Who here is MAILING in your I-130 to Mexico City? Do you have an address? I called today and they acted like I was crazy and didn't know anything about DCF.

I would like to confirm some info before mailing my life away. Can anyone confirm the address and telephone number?

Thanks!
