Hey DerZinker. When I went there, they actually told me to make it to USCIS, and not the whole United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. So go figure! I guess it will depend on who actually receives the check.

Try to find out from the other people that actually sent their packets to the embassy instead of going in person. I think you can reach them by e-mail.

Ulises & Marisol: Thanks for your replies about changing my mailing address to the US. I did that yesterday and I'm hoping to get something there soon! Ulises, I did mention my case number in a cover letter with the DS-230 and the I-864... It looks like it will take longer than 4 weeks for us because we already have about 5 weeks since we sent these forms in and they told us to wait 6 more weeks to call again!

DerZinker: Just to let you know that in May we sent a cashier's check from the US made out to "US Department of Homeland Security/USCIS" and it went through okay. I had my dad send it from the US. I was really nervous about that part too, but somehow got lucky on this one! Good luck on that!

Hi BIT welcome to the thread. Yes, there is no getting around Juarez. All beneficiares in Mexico must go through Juarez, no exceptions.

Thanks very much to everyone else for your responses. Keep 'em coming. Honestly it isn't much clearer to me now because I think everyobdy had a different response, but it does comfort me some to know that maybe they aren't quite as picky as I originally thought. I try to call the Embassy in DF and I pratically have to fight with them just to get a word out but in the end they always end up transferring me to a dead end and no answer. My tax dollars hard at work.

I have an infopass appointment in the United States with USCIS and I'll ask them about this while there. Hopefully they can help. But if anyone else can share their experience with the payment to DF that would help huge. The more the better!

I know since the start of this thread to now there have been numerous changes can someone please tell me what are the steps?

I-130 sent to who? DF or CDJ? or US Chicago Lockbox?

Then... what happens?

Since I am planning on DCF Packet 3 right?

or how now things are done electronically what can be done to cut the time?

Thanks

Not much has changed for Mexico from what I understand. DCF means that you file your petition (I-130) to the Embassy in the foreign country in which you reside - (Direct Consular Filing). If you live in Mexico you can send your I-130 to Mexico City. The advantage is that the process moves much faster and that's pretty much the only real difference.

If you don't live in Mexico you send your I-130 to Chicago. You can also send your petition to Chicago even if you do live in Mexico, but that is not DCF. The advantage is that the process is a little more straightforward and you will most likely have no problems receiving your documents at your US address (vs. receiving docs in Mexico which can be a problem depending on where in Mexico you live), however the process is dragged out considerably longer.

Regardless of where you send your docs, you'll eventually receive follow-up packets (3 & 4) that instruct you on the next steps after your initial petition is approved. I believe that a large part of the process is done online in any case for all Mexico petitions.

I just realized that my wife does not have a Mexican Passport, should I get this fixed before sending the I-130? or can I send the I-130 then get her passport?

Thanks...

Oh and one more thing, to be considered for the DCF I need to have my FM-2 or FM-3 or can I do it just in the basis that I married a Mexican Woman while being a Tourist here and now I am living here?

Thanks

When I filed, they did ask me for a copy of my wife and kid's passport but don't remember if it was only as proof of identity. But check on I-130 instructions.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-130instr.pdf

You need to prove that you are legally staying in Mexico to be able to file in Mexico embassy or consulate (Monterrey and Tijuana).

Pretty much what Ulises said.. as far as her passport I think you can get away with not having one at least until it's time to go to your interview, but of course she'll have to have a vaild Mexican passport by the time she goes in to her interview in Juarez. You can just use a copy of her IFE as proof of identification when you send in the I-130 (at least that's what it says on the Mexico City requirements form). It says either a copy of either a valid passport or her IFE, so I assume either will work.

For the other thing, unfortunately you must have either a valid FM2 or FM3 to do DCF. That, and copies (3 past months preferably) of bills in your name with your Mexican address (i.e. cable, phone, internet, bank statmenets, etc...). The FM2 / FM3 can be a bit of a pain to get for the first time depending on your situation (basically depends on if you either have money or good income coming in from the states or a company in Mexico who is willing to hire you and help you out in getting the visa), so if you don't already have one and you aren't in a big hurry to get to the US, you might consider filing in the US and waiting out the process a little longer. Totally up to you of course, but the FM2 / FM3 visa can be kind of a hassle - just FYI.

Hey all,

We received the interview invitation letter in the mail! Yay! Now I'm online trying to fill out the DS-260 form. I'm being asked for the Beneficiary ID number. We never received this from the NVC. Apparently you can find it on the "Immigrant Visa Fee Processing Invoice" which we never got.

Has anyone had the same situation? What number should I use as our Beneficiary ID?

THANK YOU!!

I emailed CDJ and asked. they sent it to me within 3 days of receiving my email. try that.

I am about to fill out the DS260, what all do I need to include in this packet? this will be his first appointment to CDJ. I have our sponsors info and paperwork, what else do I need?

Thanks Anatopia. What email address did you use for CDJ? I called the Consulate Call Center in Cuidad Juarez today and they told me to call the NVC in the US. Then I called the NVC and they told me to call Cuidad Juarez. I swear I can't make this stuff up.

I was in the same situation when I filed. The process had just changed. But the DS-260 is only for certain people, and only for those who filed with NVC. If you filed doing DCF that means that NVC didn't process your case.

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_5164.html

If you have already submitted DS-230 that is the only thing you will need.

When I was there in Juarez, they too told me I needed DS-260 when I called, but when I went to the actual appointment (biometrics) office, they said if I have already delivered DS-230 then I didn't need anything else.

You know we DCFers are special :=)

However wait for more people to answer to this post. Maybe someone was able to fill out DS-260. But DS-260 replaces DS-230, so if they asked at first DS-230 that should make it. Just bring a copy of it to your interview, they will not even ask you for it, but take it just in case.

I assume you still have to go to your biometrics appointmnent?

Just go there the day before your appointment, or a couple of hours before your turn, and they will tell you you don't need it.
