Hi Ulises,

contact them through the Juarez consulate page and call the 1900 number (I talked about this in a previos post probably in August/Sept). The told me they had no info and then I called the 1900 (from here in Mexico...from a caseta telefonica and they didn't charge my credit card!). They gave me the case number via the 1900 call.

Once you have the number, put EVERYTHING in packet 3 , DS part I and II (don't sign ds part II) and put your case number at the top of every page.

Best of luck!!!!

Oh, and one more thing, once I get a case number, do I have to mail all the documents in packet 3, or only the DS part I? And later take all my documentation to the interview?

hey pnewton! if he's there with you, go to the SS office and request a card- but you don't have to file when you make under 9,000 (not 80,000!).

Hi DTBrooklyn,

Oops, that was a typo! Yes, I meant 1-864. Both my mom and I filled out our own copies of that form, and she just checked the box stating that she was our sponsor.

As for paying the I-130, I think a money order works. When we paid in Monterrey, we paid in cash (pesos) at a register in the Consulate.

Good luck to you both and feel free to ask any questions as they come up!:)

P.S. We got double copies of the "Welcome" letter in the mail! Hmm...and no Social Security card, yet. Czmjcq, what are you planning to do about the SSN for taxes? If we don't have his SSN by then, I was thinking of just including a note on it?

Filed 130 in person in Mexico City June 2010

130 approved next day

No case number until July 21

Sent Packet 3 July 21

Packet 3 approval date Aug 4

Oct. 4 Interview- Approved!

PS the same thing happened to me. Since filing directly with Mexico in Sept I never recieved ANYTHING in the mail. Then I went back to the US for the holidays and got a letter that my case was being transfered to the US!! I was SO mad so I called my contact in Mexico and told him that was not right I eventually ended up sending him another copy of my FM3 and all my departure/entries in my passport to prove my residence in MX. Finally my case was approved (never got a letter on that either). I finally got through on the new CDJ number and the guy told me the packet was sent out Dec14th..never recieved it...so I got all the forms for Packet 3 and sent them DHL to CDJ. The guy said to just do this and told me what forms I needed to include. Now we are just waiting for our appt.

Let me know if you need any of those forms I have copies of all of them.

Hey there,

I filed I-130 for wife and kids at Mexico City on December 16th. I got an approval letter on january stating that my petition (the 3 of them) had been approved and that everything had been sent to Ciudad Juarez and that I should expect them to communicate with me. I've read in different places that it can take up to 40 days for them to give a case number? Anyway, I called them today cause I haven't got anything from them, and I tried with the telephone numbers they display in their webpage, but none of them worked, so I called them to the phone where they address general questions.

I chose Immigrant visa option. I explained the guy my situation and that I had received no letter. He asked me if I already had a case number, and I said that no, that the reason I was calling was to see if I already got one, but he told me that I should call NVC at New Hampshire. I explained that when you file DCF your case doesn't go to the NVC, but he said that all the cases go to NVC first and they I should call them and see if I have a case number. Is this true? Has anyone here filed in december 2010 and already got a response? Should I contact NVC? What do you recommend?

The letter I got from CIS at Mexico stated that my petitions were approved on December 17th.

Your paper SHOULD NOT have gone to NVC. Your case number should be on your approval letter...and if it isnt calling the new number i listed above they are able to tell you if you have a case number by looking up your name or the applicants name. The number again is 7034392313. I filed in September and there have been SOOO many problems with communication regarding our case. The Embassy in Mexico City is worthless and as soon as this is over and done with I am going to write a letter there and to my senator. They have made so many mistakes on my case. I know a gal who applied the SAME time I did directly wth CDJ and she had her first appt in Jan and has her waiver appt in March. Its almost March and we havent even had our first! Anyways, alittle venting sorry!!

Once you get your case number I would send packet 3 right away and not wait for it in the mail. They said they sent it to me Dec 14 and to date I STILL havent received it!

Hi Esperanza, thanks for your response.

I called that number, and they said I still have no numbers. They asked me to call the NVC. I did get a letter from CIS in Mexico saying that I had to wait from Ciudad Juarez to get in touch, but it didn't have any case number.

Have all of you (other members) received any number on your I-130 approval letter?

Applying from Mexico was supposed to be faster but it seems they still go to NVC, or at least that is what they are telling me.

As far as I know, our cases do not go through the NVC.

The only thing I received at my Mexico address was the I-130 approval from the Monterrey consulate. The case number is not included there, Juarez supposedly sends it to you.

Hi Lagringa, Thanks.

So after receiving the approval letter, in average how long it should take Juarez to send letter to ask for packet 3?

I am worried because I called twice to the Juarez consulate, and both guys have told me the same, that all cases go to NVC regardless of where you file, and that's not what I knew. I'll wait for response from the e-mail I sent, hopefully that will have better information.

This is the inquiry form:

https://ciudadjuarez.cms.getusinfo.com/public_inquiry_form.html

I see you already sent an email. I think I received the approval in May and I requested the case number until July, but I wasn't in a big hurry because I didn't have a joint sponsor yet. I know it's long, but you could read this whole thread and see other users' timelines too.

The letter I got with my case number did come from CDJ. It just said we have received evidence that entitles you to an immigrant visa...etc. And the case number was on there. Funny tho that I never received an approval letter or packet 3. CDJ just received my packet 3 yesterday.

I would contact the original place you sent your I-130. Where was that? Monterrey? Did you ever get a call from them?

Originally the Mexico embassy tried contacting me and I wasnt home so they assumed I was residing in the US and tried to transfer my app to the US. I called immediately to USCIS at the embassy and they cancelled the transfer.

Did you apply in person or mail?

Your case shouldnt have anything to do with NVC. The people that answer the phones there don't even know what DCF is or even that you can do that. If they transfer your paperwork it will be a HUGE set back and you will have to pay the 70 processing fee too.

If you applied in Mexico City let me know I have the contact information for someone's direct line and e-mail.

Hi Esperanza,

I did apply in Mexico City in person. I did get the I-130 letter for approval, and the letter said that the case had been forward to the Consulate in Ciudad Juarez, and that all following communication should be with them. From LaGringa now I know that the approval letter for I-130 doesn't contain a case number, and as you say, in Juarez the people who answer the phone simply don't know what DCF is. I don't think USCIS in Mexico forwarded anything to the NVC, cause they sent me the letter to my address in Guadalajara.

So, I'll just wait for the consulate to reply to my e-mail and see if the guys that respond the e-mails provide my case numbers. I still have plenty of time, I mean, my only concern is having SSN for my wife and kids this year. They have tourists visas, and we planned to go to Mexico on summer, so they can return the i-94 and then be able to enter the country again.

I'll let you know when I get my case numbers.

Thanks,

Ulises

Good to hear you figured it all out! I hope you get a response soon! Good luck!

Great news. The Consulate replied my e-mail today with the case numbers, I am so excited and so thankful with all the members who have helped me here. Had I known before, I would've written to them before instead of calling. The reply stated that they have sent me a letter on Dec 27 to my address in Jalisco (where I lived before), but as it has happened to many people here, the letter hasn't reached the address.

Anyway, I have more questions for the forum.

Now that I have my case numbers, the packet 3 instructions say that I need to send only DS-230 part I and I-864. But the e-mail says I need to send DSE-230 parts I and II.

Also I-864 asks if the petitioner is filing an I-864A?

Another thing is that I have a sponsor, but I am working in the US since January and my salary is enough to meet the requirements of 1.25 times the poverty guidelines.

So my questions are:

Shall I submit DS-230 parts I and II? Signed or not signed?

Shall I submit I-864 from a joint sponsor also (for each one of my family members for whom I filed)? Or only submit I-864 from me (the petitioner) considering that I do have a Job here and that I meet the poverty guidelines.

Do I need to fill up I-864A for my wife?

Do I need to send proofs of employment (i.e. tax returns, salary payslips), with packet 3, or that is just for the interview?

Thanks again for all the support.

Great I am glad to hear you got your case number!

It is SO ridiculous that they say the send things and they are never recieved. This has happened to SO many people...Today I asked when I called to check if my appt was in the system where I could send a complaint and he just said I could send a fax to the consulate...but with my luck they won't receive that either.

Like you I never recieved Packet 3 so I called the 703# and he told me exactly what forms I needed to send (not sure if this varies) but they were:

DS-230 Part One (you sign all the parts except at the bottom where it says dont sign until interview)

I-864 Affidavit of Support

If your tax return annual gross income doesnt equal the 125% for your household, then you have to have a co-signer or use your assets which have to be 5 times the difference between your gross income and 125% of the poverty level.

Also if you meet the income for the last three years you can put copies on your returns just to make a stronger case.

Do you have form I-864? There are very detailed instuctions at the begining that should answer all your questions. I believe you dont have to fill out seperate one for dependents..

Hi Esperanza.

Yes, I do have I-864 forms, but I think for my children I will have to send I-864W as they will become US citizens as soon as they enter the US with their immigrant visas (the are 4 and 1).

Maybe I should file the joint sponsor, because I have had no tax returns in the US. This is my first job here, and I have got it since January 17,2011. So as you say, let's get a stronger case.

I'll let you know when I have all the docs and I've sent them.
