Honestly Esperanza,

I just went ahead and printed the DS-230 docs of the internet and sent them in. What's the point of waiting for the packet anyway if it has the same info as the one on the internet? Also, who knows how long you'll be waiting for the packet to arrive at your house. Mine was sent out on October 20th and It still hasn't arrived at my house, and I'm in the same state as the Consulate!!!! So anyway I sent mine in. The only thing is that supposedly they lost it,(even though I got a signature through DHL) and everything, so i just sent it again yesterday. Make sure you make a duplicate copy of the whole packet just in case something like that happens to you. But I say go ahead and send it in. Your I-130 was already approved so why wait!

We had waited 2 months for the Pkg 3 and decided to email to check and they said they had mailed it about 6 weeks before that - so according to them, it was mailed about 2 weeks after they received our 1st pkg. So we printed everything and mailed it. Nine months later, the packet still hasn't arrived....glad we didnt' wait- haha. My husband's first appt letter arrived the day he RETURNED from his appt. So it seems no matter how close or far you are -- the MX mail isn't very reliable. On the contrary, everything that is mailed from there via their El Paso address to me in Dallas - gets to me in a matter of days.

I did get an email finally that said that my appt was NOT going to be changed so I guess I'll be leaving on the 29th to go TALK to the Consular Agent on Tuesday the 30th.... Since they have not indicated anything that I need to bring and really haven't been forthcoming in what exactly they need from me (issue with my dual citizenship and who knows what else..but at least no problems with my husband's stuff)

Hi,

I say you call the juarez 1900 to see if you have a case number yet, then you can put it on your packet 3 docs.

Hello All!

I have been a little MIA from the forum lately because we are just waiting to recieve Packet 3.

I was just wondering what you all think about this...

We submitted our I-130 on Sept 9th in person in Mexico City and have still not heard anything. I literally call every single day and it is SOOOO hard to get a hold of anyone. About a month ago I did speak to a women who said they normally take at most one month to process I-130s which it has been 2. Also she said mine was "approved" and a packet was in the mail. On top of that I recieved a call yesterday and of course when trying to return the call no answer and no returned message. He also said in his message I could check the case status online, but I dont have a receipt number!!!!

I am SOO frusterated. I know it takes time, but the most frusterating thing is the lack of communication and being able to contact someone. I constantly get hung up on or transfered over and over.

I have all the DS-230 docs...can I just send them in?

What have your experiences been with this? Is this normal?

Filed 130 in person in Mexico City June 2010

130 approved next day

No case number until July 21

Sent Packet 3 July 21

Packet 3 approval date Aug 4

Oct. 4 Interview- Approved!

Hi ladies!

Just got back from my 2 week vacation in PARADISE!! So it took me some time to catch up with all the postings.

Czmjacq, sorry that in the end, you're going to have to go. Keep safe!

pnewton, I would say wait 1 month before you email them to ask them about the appointment date. Most likely they've sent you a letter but with "reliable" Mexican mail it hasn't reached you and probably never will.

EsperanzaXMyS, if you've been approved for the I-130, CDJ should have a case number for you. You won't be able to send in the DS-230 docs without the case number so email the Consulate, wait the days they take to respond, and once they've emailed you the case number, then you can go ahead and mail in Packet 3.

I'm so happy. After sending my packet #3 a second time last week( on the 17th), I just called the 202 number and the receipt of my documents were put into the system on the 19th!!!!!!!! whooo hooo. I really thought that i would have to wait a couple of weeks even for that information, especially since last time I sent the packet I waited almost a month to hear absolutely nothing. I'm so happy that at least someone has begun working on it (i was told that there would be no notes in the system about receipt of my documents until someone began working on them.) do you think i can get my first visa apptmt by december? Probably not....

Grangkm--That's so exciting! And actually, if you got your Jan. 6th appointment after having to re-send Packet 3, I think I better call the consulate tomorrow, in case our appointment is sooner than we had anticipated! I emailed them yesterday, but you know how it can be slow with email. I'll post tomorrow whether we have an appt. or not!

Also, I have two quick random questions:

1. My husband finished his undergrad in 2009 and he's currently waiting on receiving his diploma (it takes forever!!). He's supposed to receive it by February or March and apparently, he needs to pick it up in person. Anyway, we're trying to figure out whether it's better for him to just wait to get it and then come to the US or to pick it up on a future trip back to Mty. I've never had to show my diploma to get a job, but I'm not sure how it will be for him once he's here. Any ideas on this?

2. If he does decide to wait to receive it, is there any kind of time limit once he gets the visa that says he needs to move to the states within a certain period of time? I know with the fiance visa, the couple has to marry within a certain period of time of receiving the visa, but as we're already married, I'm not sure. Obviously, I want him to come as soon as possible, but we're just trying to see what works with this diploma thing!

Thanks, everyone and have a good night!

Hi Pnewton !

About your questions:

1) I have never had to show my diploma to get a job either, but I think is better to have it ready just in case.. anyway it is your personal choice, maybe he can wait until March if the diploma is not ready by March...then dont wait anymore and go to USA

2) The time limit to go to USA after the approval is 6 months.. so he is plenty of time to get things ready before move to USA

Good Luck !!

Marisol

Ahh! I just called the Consulate, and we have our appointment!! Grangkm, it's the same day as yours--January 6th!! I was hoping that it would be either a Tuesday, Thursday or a Friday so I wouldn't have to miss 5 whole days of work, and it looks like it will work out ok--we'll fly down on Tuesday, have the medical appt on Wednesday, have the interview on Thursday, then hopefully cross the border on Friday and then be gone by the weekend!

And now I have to go back and read all of the info about the medical appointment and interview, too! Grangkm, will you guys be staying at La Quinta? I think we'll stay there....

Hey, Grangkm, how many days did you guys book for? Tuesday till Saturday? And also, has anyone successfully gotten the visa the day after the interview, crossed the border and flown home the very same day?

P.S. Thanks for the promotion code!

If whatever the agent needs to talk to me about is resolved on Tuesday at the interview, then we are hoping that we will be able to pick up the VISA at 2pm the next day (seems like the time most people get them) and then go to the border and allowing 3 hours or so there, then going to El Paso airport -- we would just be going to Dallas and they have flights departing as late as 8pm but it just depends on where you are going as to whether there is a late flight. If we get approved, he will just stay the weekend and then fly back to Cozumel from Dallas, but he will have met the required POE right?

Don't they just need to get their VISA stamp within 6 months, of approval?? Not actually move and stay in the states then? Our plan was for him to move next August so I have a couple of months in Cozumel after school is out here in the states to get the house in Cozumel ready to rent.

Congrats to both you and Grangkm on your interview dates!! Glad to see things are moving along.

Hi girls--

Grangkm, it'll be nice to see you at least from Tuesday-Thursday! You mentioned that you're living in Chihuahua, right? So will you guys be driving in?

Czmjacq, I imagine you're waiting to get your return tickets until the day of? If you're flying just that short distance to Dallas, I think that makes sense, but I'll be flying back up to the Midwest and the tickets can get pricy, so I'm debating what to do. Once you cross the border into El Paso, are there taxis available to take people to the airport? Our other option is for me to fly back with my husband to MTY and go home from there.

Also, does anyone have an idea how risky it is to get your return tickets ahead of time? I know it's not recommended, but tickets can really jump in price. Maybe just getting the ticket "insurance" (or whatever it is) would be a good idea.

And I'm not sure about whether they need to officially move to the States in the 6 months...Anyone else know?
