Czmjacq:

I think you took a right choice to go there for the interview. Cd Juarez is dangerous but it is our only option. We just have to be careful and dont go out at night. That`s what my husband and I will do.. unfortunately we have to stay there for 8 days !.. anyway we will just go out from the hotel if it is necessary.

Good Luck !

Thanks Marisol... your interview is just around the corner. Good luck, but I'm sure you won't need it. Just stay safe- wow 8 days...

I'm curious why your baby wasn't automatically a US citizen since you are? My daughter was born in Cozumel and I filed for a US birth abroad and SS nbr at the US Consulate in Merida and she was given US citizenship (has dual- US/MX) That was 14 years ago, have things changed? Or is it different if you are a Naturalized US citizen?

Ok, quick question everyon, and I think I asked this before, but I want to be sure!

So, on the Packet 3 checklist where it says "Applicant's Statement", it says:

"When it is possible for me to receive an appointment to make formal visa application, I intend to apply:

1. Alone

2. Together with my spouse (Print first name: _____________)

3. Together with my spouse and following minor children: ....

And then my husband needs to sign, date, etc. Does this question ask whether I'll be simply accompanying him in CDJ or is it referring to whether the spouse is applying likewise (for other types of visas). Confusion! I am planning on accompanying him, but we don't know exactly what they are asking here. What did you guys put?

I tried to do CRBA for my baby but the problem was the "continous period in USA".. I wasnt married when my baby was born... and the law says "for single mom must be at least a continous period of 365 days in USA"... I did not know that .. and I always came to Mexico for vacations at least once a year..that broke the continous period. So they told me that the only way to get de us citizenship for my baby is getting the Permanent Residence and then once in USA he will be automatically us citizen...with not further actions. So.. When they denied the CRBA It was sooo frustrating... but now I hope everything goes well .

Thanks.. I will post my experience soon.

Hi, Ana.

You start the process in Monterrey but unfortunately, you'll still have to go to Juarez for your appointment. Well, only your husband.

I forgot to write in my review that I found a discount for La Quinta here: http://www.smf.juarez-mexico.com/index.php?topic=22662.0

The promo code is SBMAYO.

It lowered my rate to about $47 a night.

Hello Anatopia!

Unfortunately Everyone in Mexico has to go to Juarez for the interview.

"La Gringa" and I.. did DCF in Monterrey... she had the interview last week.. I have the interview next week In Cd Juarez. Others did DCF in Mexico City and same.. they had the interviews in Juarez.

I read in the newspaper that the Consulate in Mexico City will help with interviews but just the "brothers and sisters" interview and "adoptoted children".

Hi everyone.

just wanted to let you know we went to the Social Security office as soon as we got to California but they told us we wouldn't be able to get his card until at least 3 weeks from the date of approval.

But then! We actually got the social in the mail our second week there (the day before we were leaving in fact!) so give it a few weeks either way...

Filed 130 in person in Mexico City June 2010

130 approved next day

No case number until July 21

Sent Packet 3 July 21

Packet 3 approval date Aug 4

Oct. 4 Interview- Approved!

Congrats on the SS card! I think all gov offices say 3 weeks at least for anything-- then we feel HAPPY when we get it sooner!

Thanks!! That will actually be useful since we will be there next month -- my husband said the CJ La Quinta was MUCH nicer than the La Quinta we stayed in while I visited him in El Paso for the weekend..... but I think I heard the same thing from others too-- so at least it will be comfortable.

Hi Ana- There is a lot of great info on waiver cases here :http://***removed***/forum/waivers.php also at www.smf.juarez-mexico.com ( I think you said you had been on these forums, but just in case)

Also Laurel Scott is an attorney who specializes in waiver cases and does free chat sessions and stuff.

Almost everyone we met at the La Quinta while we were there for 6 days (! cant believe its over!) were waiver cases. For some reason they don't show up as much on this forum though. Best of luck!

anyone here have to do a I601 waiver?
