Hey girls--

My husband and I are just finishing preparing our Pack 3 and I wanted to double-check a few things with you:

1. I did a I-864, but am currently unemployed, so I put "Zero income", right? I'll be including a letter explaining my situation and that I'm expecting to get a job soon. Egh, I also have to write why I didn't file my 2009 taxes and I hope this isn't a problem either!

2. I'm still a little confused about which forms the joint sponsor needs to fill out. On the instructions for the I-864, it says "The petitioning sponsor must sign and complete Form I-864, even if a joint sponsor also submits an I-864 to meet the income requirement."

So, I took that as both my mom and I fill out an I-864, but then I saw that some people said that the joint sponsor ONLY fills out the I-864a...Help!! Should she do both the I-864 and the I-864a or just the "a" document?

Thanks so much and good luck with everything in CDJ, Ariana! Hopefully you guys are almost all finished!!

Pnewton- I remember seeing something on another forum about someone having a major problem with using 864a, and that is why we used the regular 864. It had something to do with joint filing (something like the petioner's father filled out the 864a, but since he filed taxes jointly with his wife they would need something from her or something messy like that). Sorry i don't remember better. but that is why we used the regular 864, and hopefully it's fine. Will let you know tommorrow night ;-)

Thanks, Ariana...Let me know. Maybe they accept it both ways, but with parents' joint tax statement, I want to be sure. I can always try to email CDJ and see if they can give me a definitive answer, too.

Another quick question: on the 230, part 1, does my husband put his parents' names, date and place of birth, etc or do I put my parents' info. It's kinda confusing because it doesn't specify whose parents we should put and it's right under the area where he fills in my info.

Pnewton- we put my husband's parent's info there. I think if it was spouse's parents it would say Spouse's parents, like it does above. But again, we will know tonight! ;-)

Approved!

My wifes visa was approved today! She entered at 1 pm and was back at the La Quinta at around 430. A little advice....we paid in cash in USD at the consulate for the visa....it is $404 USD She said that the exchange was very bad if you were paying in pesos. So if you plan on paying in cash be sure to have dollars or exchange it before you get there. The La Quinta changed my pesos to dollars at 12.5

DHL packet to be ready tomorrow after 12 according to what they told her at the consulate.

Congratulations, Richie & Martha, that's great news!

Thanks for the tip, I didn't know you could pay in cash. If you have any other tips you could give us, we'd really appreciate it, now that everything's still fresh!
