Just got a call from my mom saying that she heard something on FOX News about US Consulate in Juarez being closed for security check?? Anyone have any info? I'm going to check the CJ website and see if I can find anything.. Just our luck!!

Congrats Marisol73! Did you have someone at your american address send it to you in Monterrey? Also, does the ACTUAL letter (i never got mine) say anything different from what it asks when you download the forms from online OR does it tell you to download the forms from online?

Congratulations, Marisol! That's great news! And the letter is exactly what mine looked like, too.

My mom called me today from the USA and said she got the interview letter in the mail! Our interview is set for August 31!! We, too, are super excited, and of course, worried about the status of the consulate's office there in Juarez. Just our luck...after so many months of research, preparation and paperwork, just to have ANOTHER delay!

czmjacq - I was really thinking about you when we got word of our letter today. I really hope they get opened back up and things can proceed as normal for you guys.

I'll be anxiously watching for any news on the consulate this week.

Ok, I need to know. Where did all of you list your American address that everything is getting sent there? I thought since we were doing DCF we were all using just our Mexican addresses. Also, Jilly and Danny, I have the same question I had for Marisol73: Will your Mom send you the interview letter by mail so your SO can take it to interview? Do you trust the original to be sent in the mail? Thanks. I noticed that on the Packet 3 letter that's where it has listed the Priority Date and Preference Category. Since I didn't get a Packet 3 letter, what do you think I should put?

I had a family emergency and ended up having to move back to the states in March (planned to in August anyway)so I wrote a letter telling the Consulate that I moved and listed my US address and my husband included the letter in the Packet 3 he sent from Mexico (he came to the US while I was there and took the packet back with him-- he has a tourist VISA already) I really didn't expect them to mail anything to me in the US since everything really needed to go to my husband in Mexico, but ends up they sent both a letter saying they recieved the Packet 3 and an appointment letter to both addresses (US and Mexico). I never did get the packet 3 in Mexico but I did get the letters about a month after they were mailed from Ciudad Juarez. Oh and since we were not sure we were going to get the appointment letter in Mexico (that arrived the same day I left US to come back to Cozumel) my mom mailed it to a friend who was coming to Cozumel and they brought it with them. I know that mail from US takes about 3-4 weeks to get to us here in Cozumel so I wouldn't have trusted to be mailed just regular mail, but you may have better luck with you mail in Mexico. I had checked with DHL before I left the US in case I needed to have it sent via secured delivery and it was going to cost like $64 -- wow... luckily we found someone that could bring it.

I printed the Packet 3 from the internet and I did not fill out the Priority Date or the Preference Category. I just left them blank and apparently that wasn't a problem.

Congratulations and Thanks for you positive thoughts.

I was told if I called back the $12 peso a minute phone number on Monday around 10am, they should be able to tell me whether or not the Consulate will be open on Tuesday. If they aren't open on Tuesday, I'm guessing the medical clinic won't be either and in that case there is no reason for my husband to fly there Monday since he won't be able to do his med on Tuesday for his interview on Wednesday. I hate for him to be delayed, but if there is any reason for them to feel like security is an issue, I would rather him wait and go at a later date.

czmjacq, there are some members from www.smf.juarez-mexico.com in CJ right now and they were saying that on Friday both consulate and clinics were closed, and the consulate is also going to be closed on Monday. I'm sorry you guys are in this difficult situation, and I think the consulate is being entirely irresponsible in advising people they need to be there in CJ anyways "just in case" when there is a bomb threat. Good luck in whatever you choose to do and be safe. I don't know where you guys are staying if you are going, but I would recommend something a little more removed from the consulate like La Quinta.

Honestly I have no idea why they sent it to the US address! I know we had to list in several places the US Domicile where we plan to live. The only other thing is on the I-864 where the sponsor lists their address there are two spaces and the second one is for if you are residing in a place different than the first one. I was really confused about whether or not I was supposed to put the US address and the Mexico address or just the Mexico address. But, I decided to list that the US address is my permanent address (because its my parents' house and I had to prove intent to reestablish US domicile) and then listed my Mexico address in the second space where you can put if you are residing at a different address. So I don't know if it was because of that, or if they send a copy of everything to the the US domicile you list and the Mexico address you list...

Hope that helps!

Sorry I forgot about your other questions!

Also we aren't having my mom send it because on Thursday we are going up there for a couple weeks for vacation, so we'll just pick it up then. When we were filling out Packet 3 info my sister (our cosponsor) and my mom (who is in charge of my tax work etc. while I'm gone) had to send me a bunch of paperwork for me to include. My sister sent me a package via DHL which cost like 38 dollars. It takes about 3 days to receive the package via DHL (Iowa-Yucatan) Then when they didn't include everything, They scanned and emailed everything that could be a copy and I printed it out.

That could be an option to you maybe. For instance, my packet 3 letter doesn't have any stamps, seals, or signatures on it and could be scanned in and reprinted. However, I havent' seen the interview letter to know if that has anything making it impossible to scan and send.

Also the Priority date is the date they RECEIVE your I-130 form in Mexico City. If you know that you can put it, and the Preference category seems to be the type of visa you are applying for. But if you're not sure, just leave it blank.
