i am in Washington, and I have had 4 messages from people sending me links to follow the Canadian feed of the Olympics..but nothing will open for me..I cannot seem to get any live feed.

Has anyone IN THE STATES found a website that allows a live feed of the Olympics that doesn't focus JUST on the American Athletes??

I was wondering this myself. I don't mind NBC coverage, but it is definitely really American focused. I'm worried that when the men's hockey starts up we're not going to get any of the games until the medal rounds... :(

Ok, I may have found some Canadian proxies for you. I'm in Montreal this weekend, so I can't test it...

http://www.freeproxy.ca/

Otherwise, google: "canadian proxy"+ctv - then it's a matter of testing the proxies (recent answers should be more reliable, since proxies details tend to change quickly).

Good luck.

It's true. The Olympics are on six separate channels up here, and we've only got regular cable (~50 channels). They're on TSN, CTV, Rogers Sportsnet, OLN, a French channel and NBC...though I think that even here the NBC coverage is time delayed for some strange reason.

Today is going to be a very interesting TV-watching day in my household. Olympics, a Canucks game and the Daytona 500, all vying for attention on our one television...

I grew up with my father being a big Nascar fan...and our main "bonding" was watching Nascar every Sunday evening (we would always tape the races and watch them a bit later). Even when I lived on my own for several years, I couldn't really help but passively follow it...and it always made for a good topic of conversation with my father. So now that I'm temporarily back here with my parents, I'm subjected to Nascar once again! Driving IS in my blood though...and that's one of the reasons why I'm driving across the continent, rather than flying / getting stuff shipped. I relish the opportunity to spend three days in the car, doing one of the things I enjoy the most: driving, while listening to music!

But yes, back to the topic... It's going to be hard to find Olympic coverage in the U.S. today. Not only is there the biggest Nascar race, there's also golf on...so that takes away another sports station!

 I hear ya! Last night there was the NASCAR truck race, an Avalanche game and the Olympics on all at once. I just frantically flipped between all three! It was nice when the Avs game was under intermission.

 Daytonnna. So I will completely admit to you all know I have been a hardcore Michael Waltrip fan for years. I'm so excited that he's just in the race this year. Hopefully he just doesn't end up upside down... A finish would be nice! Racing is a bonding thing between my husband and I, its how we met. He went to the NASCAR technical institute and his dad raced stock cars here in the midwest for years... It's definitely inescapable in this house. I thought I was a big fan, then I met them... you've never seen bigger fans!!

But, CNBC? That's on here in the US? If so I'm pretty sure I get that since I have the extended digital cable package, but I have no idea what channel that would be on. Interesting!

Really? I don't find it's all that American focused at all. It used to be about a decade ago, but not now. NBC was commenting on Canada getting it's first gold medal at home. Showing the crowd going crazy. Bob Costas must have done some homework. What other American sports anchor would know where each of the native bands are located in the BC area and where those areas are in relation to the games?

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Well when I say American focused I mean they tend to put more emphasis on events Americans are in contention to medal in. They will show Ohno's speed skating event before they will show the Canadian woman's hockey team playing... well anyone that's not the USA. There isn't anything wrong with that, they focus on what their market demands, but for the Canadian watching from home its understandable that I'd like to see something different every now and then. They have made an attempt to focus on the Canadian team, and that's a nice thing to see.

Cool find Flames!

NBC just did an interesting segment on Polar Bears in Manitoba. Anyone else see?

I don't mind the US coverage... although I miss the Canadian focus.

I've also noticed that my American friends aren't as into the Olympics as my Canadian friends.... I guess partly because Canada is hosting...
