travelling on AP or greencard

We just got the AP in the mail, and I will be doing some travelling to be with my husband at his duty station.

I will be staying there in Japan through military orders as his dependent or something, so I just want to clarify some things, if anyone have had this experience or have some ideas about it, please do share your thoughts.

Is there a time limit for someone to be away with an AP?

Our case was transferred to CSC and I've read that usually there won't be any more interviews for the GC, so if we get approved without an interview, we'll just ask my father-in-law to mail me my greencard. We also plan on not having me fly back to the US until his orders there are done which won't be until March 2012.

I was wondering if USCIS will think of that as me abandoning my residency, or is that ok since I am on military orders?

Is there a maximum time to be away while on the 2 yr greencard?

Do i need to come fly back in the US every once in awhile and stay here so I won't abandon my status?

If I will stay in my husband's duty station the entire time, can I just file for removing of conditions from there?

any ideas would be great! thanks so much! ^_^

I read somewhere (I will do some searching and see if I can find it again) that as long as you are stationed with a military member you are considered to be on US soil. You can change your address to the APO and even get your AOS expedited because of of the military. You can or your husband can call the military helpline at 1-877-CIS-4MIL (1-877-247-4645), ...if your husband tries to call the helpline DSN have him dial 809-463-3376 (no 1 in front of it) and then dial the 1877 number. I think the only "catch" to this is you have to be command sponsored or be on his orders to the overseas location.

Your best bet is to call the helpline and ask your questions though to get all the right info.
