Jennifer Heil has the cutest accent when she speaks French, I was rooting for her :P But, the American did real good too... I love moguls, the jumps are amazing!

Yeah...I knew that the American was going to win as soon as the run was done. It's funny how that works -- you can barely watch a sport in your life, and yet you can just somehow TELL when one performance is ever so slightly better than another!

I thought Jennifer Heil was a bit sulky though...even the American Bronze medalist was enthusiastically jumping around etc., but Heil looked decidedly beaten. I guess that's what happens when you have the weight of a nation on your shoulders...

Canadian women's hockey team had a good "warm up" tonight. 18-0 vs Slovakia.

Not a surprise, but they beat an old most goals record (old record was 16).

Sometimes it's trickier, but that was clear - plus, it's on TV, so not that easy to see the height and all the little details that count...

Any fun events to attend outdoor in Vancouver while you are still there? I went to Sydney and Athens right after the Olympics, and it was still nice to see the different public spaces arrangements with big screens and all. Decorated buildings were cool too!

This probably sounds pretty sad, but I don't think I'll be downtown for any of the Olympics. Maybe I'll change my mind and head down there this week or next...it's just so hard to get around down there during the games, and I'm not exactly "close" to Vancouver right now. If I was still living in Burnaby, it would be a no-brainer -- twenty minutes on the Skytrain and I'd be in the thick of it...but I'm currently on the outskirts. I love that Vancouver has the Olympics -- utterly love it! -- but I think I'll just participate as a couch potato!

It doesn't sound worst than my story of visiting the cities once the Olympics are over! Plus, we don't want you to get arrested by mistake during a street protest ~ just before the interview, très bad!

The Mens 10k Biathlon track looks mean! I expect to see a lot of misses in shooting. :o

teehee. . . . everyone has left to go skiing and hiking, I'm being a couch potato and watching tv. :)

Yeah, I've been totally couch potatoing it. I'm currently watching the women's 3000 meter speed skating final. There's a break while they resurface the ice. If there's any sport that we could get first, second and third in, it's this one! Hughes, Klassen and Groves are all top ranked speed skaters. Men's moguls are on soon too...plus figure skating pairs short program...and biathlon... Whew!

I can't wait until hockey starts on Tuesday though. There's a Russia vs. Slovakia game on Thursday night. That should be great!

Hockey runs in the blood for most Canadians, but really there should be a 10 goal limit or something...

I mean really, allowing that kind of beating is just demoralizing.

Well, ultimately "goals for" factors into tie-breakers etc.

I've always been on the fence about mercy rules. I don't really believe they should exist...but I DO have to question how competitive that particular sport is though. There are really only two teams that can play women's ice hockey well...

Yea I can see Canada and the USA duking it out for the gold.

I am always amazed how well the women function so well as a single unit. So consistent in executing plays, playing their positions, good passing... it all more than makes up for the lack of brutality and heavy contact.

Wasn't Olympic basketball eventually canceled because of USA domination?

My Tivo rocks. It asked me about a week before the games started if I'd like to record the Olympics and then had a list of things to choose to record.

Opening ceremony

Figure Skating

Ski jumping

Biathlon

etc......

So I simply checked off what I want to watch and it's done the rest. I have to say that the new event "Ski cross" is really cool. Like downhill dirt bike racing except it's done with snowboards.

Ant

That's one of the great things about the Olympics -- you get to watch sports you would never see otherwise.

I agree....

Sigh...Why can't the olympics be on every day?...

The winter olympics are better than the other "regular" sports on tv, in my opinion.....

Sort of off-topic but...

Yet another reason to become a Dual Canadian/American Citizen....

You can choose to be a member of the Canadian olympic team, or the American olympic team..... :star:

If you are an olympic athelete....

Sorry...I couldn't help but notice that...while watching the olympic games...

Some of the atheletes have multiple citizenships.....

They "pick and choose"....I suppose...

Some choose their former country, some choose their current country....

Which country would you choose to be an olympic team member of???...Hmmm.....
