Lol...As for security..Don't they have those FBI guys.....That's more than enough security to a friendly country like Canada...lol....

The 50 K race finished earlier today - it was the last event before the hockey game went into overtime. The medals for hockey were presented on the ice as many of the players had to leave right away since they have to get back to their regular competition schedules. Detroit is apparently playing in Colorado tomorrow night - with the Olympic team members on the ice. No resting on their laurels, apparently.

I wonder if its also because its a marathon race. If I remember during the summer olympics, they have the marathon ceremony award during the closing event... or am I just making that up?

Finally married... and still married... ;)

All I can say is, -I- wish I can be there... but the tickets were just so expensive!!!! My friend works for the government and had access to tickets and I could not believe the prices for the opening, closing and all the popular sports. The only sports that seemed reasonable were the cross country skiing and so forth... and that I would be happy to watch indoors :P

Ariana Chris sang the Greek National anthem to honour Greece as the founder of the Olympic games (she is a Canadian of Greek heritage); Ben Hepner sang the Olympic Anthem, and the choir from the Russian Federation just sang the National Anthem of the Russian Federation.

Russian actress Natalia Velanova is part of the Socchi presentation here including cultural and technological achievements of the Russian Federation. The conductor is Kirkiev and ballet dancers performing to Tschiakovsky's 6th with the Moscow Symphony - pretty classy presentation

and now ice dancers. Maria Guleghina is singing now on a viritual 'troika', hehehe
