Hi,

Can anyone tell me whjat to do, I'm in a blind panic as always.

As far as I know you bring criminal records to your interview which you dpon't get til AFTER you get clearance from the initial forms and evidence sent in?

Only it's really, really hard and a hugely long process to get mine it seems and I don't want this to add to the wait time.

It suddenly occurred to me earlier I can't get easy police recortds from my four years in Japan because they, according to protocol TOOK MY ALIEN REGISTRATION CARD OFF ME WHEN I LEFT THE COUNTRY. I don't have the alien registration code off it and zero way of getting it.

What sort of records do US immigration need? Is it just a police clearance (I give my fingerprints to Japan embassy, they cvlear it as involved witrh no arrests) or do they need a full record (that I seemingly can't appewar to get, at all because I lack the numbers off the registration card)

Just the fingerprint check takes TENM WEEKS.

I can barely read/hunt information at present because I got myself into a panic. I'd be really grateful if anyone can help.

More informaiton on what your applying for would be helpful. I applied for the CR-1 for my husband and did not take police records to the interview and was fine. (they forward everything from the NVC).

Click here to see what you need from Japan: http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciproc...ocity_3591.html

I would call the place you need to get these records from and ask them how to get it if you don't have an alien registration card.

Thanks, I'm still worried though because of the huge extra wait time.

It would be a CR-1, for me to go to the USA to be with my husband.

I am a British citizen who lived for 4 years in Japan from 2004-2008. Taking your alien reguistration card away, is protocol. They ask for it at the airport when you leave. Many people advise you should lie and say you lost it, but at the time I was in little time to catch my flight and didn'ty want a fight.

I didn't consider the consequences, nor write down the number. :(
