That would be kind of creepy, really.
Natalie Cole sang with her dead father, Janet Jackson sang a duet with Michael, and I think even Lisa Marie and Elvis "performed" together.

Interesting concept - not sure about it not being a real person but maybe if they had a real person plus the holagram it would be cool.

Ye-ah. That would be kind of creepy.

I think it'd be cool if Gretzky lit the torch.

Terry Fox's mum would be nice...mind you Gretz would ok too

If they choose Pamela Anderson - I will officially give up my Cdn citizenship

Haha. You and me, both.

True. I guess I'm looking at it from the perspective of imagining seeing a departed loved one.

It's okay. If you were one of those people who misspells "border" as "boarder" I'd be concerned. :P

I swear I want to cut the fingers off of people that spell it like that...even people fluent in English. Blows me away. I'm going to stop before I get myself all worked up over it. Too late? Perhaps.

Oh, I just read that there was an idea of a holagram of Terry Fox himself lighting the torch.

I'll be VERY disappointed if they do something gimmicky like that. There are enough exceptional Canadian athletes (and B.C. athletes in particular) who could do it genuinely in person. And as much as Terry Fox's legacy is a great one, between running across Canada on an artificial leg and going around the entire WORLD in a wheelchair, I think the latter is more of a feat.

I suppose the fact that Terry Fox died 2/3 of the way through his endeavor makes him a bit of a martyr for his cause, though. But even still...that was also thirty years ago. I just don't get why they would choose the Olympics to do some sort of commemoration for him...

Has anyone thought of Steve Nash as a possibility? Two-time NBA MVP, former Olympian, and also a B.C. born athlete...

Steve Nash carried it yesterday, he's now back in the US for the All-Star Weekend. Any other BC possibilities?

Olympics isnt just about athletes! Its about sending out a message! And having something related to terry Fox Would be huge!! Who better portrays, courage, persistence than terry fox, a true fighter. Each yr communities across canada have a terry Fox run! His name lives on forever. And what better place for his family to light the torch, other than in the province he would have finished his journey in. Of course now a days all the Olympics means is $$$$$. I'll be at work , so wont get to see it!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I disagree. I think the Olympics IS about the athletes and about camaraderie AND national pride. It's a unique blend, really. But I don't like the idea of ulterior motive in ANYthing...and having Terry Fox's mom light the torch would indeed be ulterior motive... He's commemorated every year across Canada with the Terry Fox run, and there are schools in his name etc....I think that's enough. He did a courageous thing, and he SHOULD be remembered. But not at the opening ceremonies of the Olympics.

I totally respect your right to your opinion though!
