Does anyone know how long it takes NVC to create I130 Case # after being received from USCIS, Mine was sent out to NVC on Feb 03,10. Approval letter already received by Mail. Also, when does NVC send applicant to choose Consulate preference? my PD is April 18, 2002

in most cases they assign a case number within 2 weeks, but call the automated system everyday to see. That is what i did.

the site when you start paying your AOS and IV bill will be an indication of where you are in the process...once you get a sign-in fail....you are approved and done with the NVC. http://travel.state.gov (this is the site they give you with the e-mail notice for the AOS bill and choice of agent.

you are so helpful and forgive me if i am very basic with this as my I130 just got approved on Feb 01,2010 and it was sent out to NVC on Feb 03. It was submitted through my US citizen brother and we already received USCIS approval letter.

I am in the stage where I am learning more of the NVC work flow. you see as I am a Canadian citizen who works as a Business Engineering Analyst and live in Toronto. It will be in my favor if my Green card comes up in few years ahead so it doesn’t bother me to wait.

I have my priority date listed as APRIL 18, 2002 and as this is will be my first contact with US immigration through NVC. I thought to be safe and e-mailed them yesterday @: nvcinquiry@state.gov with my mailing address, e-mail, and tel #

I didn’t get what e-mail or access you were referring to?

Thx

wowo, automated message is working, they have no information yet. USCIS mailed it to NVC Feb 3ed. so give it few days ahead i guess.

Thx everyone, you guys are so supportive on this website and I am so glad to be part of it,

congratulations..as I read you say that you are applying through your brother..that means that NVC will assign a case number but a visa wont be available for you at this time...according to the priority date they are working with case of january 2000 they will contact you when a visa is available..hang on there and be ready..normaly they work 3 months for month example March 2010 they are working with cases from january 2000 but in April they will work if they dont get stuck with cases of March 2000

here's what I suggest - and let YOUR BROTHER DRIVE THIS -

In general, I might agree - but specifically - the casefile is moving - it makes sense to check in with NVC, see EXACTLY what movement is going on.

In SOME CASES, movement occurs in spite of 'whats posted' for Priority Dates.

YES I SEE NOW THE PRIORITY DATE IS 2002 NOT 2009.. SO IF EVERYTHING IS OK I BELIEVE IN LESS THAN 9 MONTHS THEY SHOULD ARRIVE TO THE PRIORITY DATE..

Thx a lot Folks. 3 weeks since my approved I130 has been mailed out to NVC on Feb 01, 2010. I was on the phone with them just a minute ago and they didnt receive it yet. They said you should allow 90 days before you contact us to inquire about your NVC case #. I e-mail them instead as a heads up with all information they need for the sake of giving them my new mailing and contact address with a copy of my approved petition' I1-30.
