Threesome

My husband and I have discussed this sort of thing (as i'm sure most couples have) in conjunction with cheating and other such things. I'm going to talk on behalf of both of us :D

Both of us are in COMPLETE agreement than anyone in need of another partner does not love their partner enough or their relationship isn't valuable enough to them. Any time you introduce another person into your relationship you're asking for trouble and basically admitting the intimacy from your partner isn't enough for you. You are admitting that you have had sexual feelings for someone else. That someone else turns you on and you want to involve them in your relationship. You are trying to make it "okay" to cheat under the guise of "spicing up your relationship". We are both against cheating and introducing any other person into our relationship. We are a 2 person team only! No third wheel needed! :P

So that's OUR opinion on it. We know it works for some people but we would never do it. We also don't completely understand the "mental goings-on" in people who are into that sort of thing but understand that some people are just wired differently... whether we "get it" or not.

---

To answer your qn directly, as the female -

If my husband suggested a threesome to me I would wonder what I'm doing wrong. I would wonder why he needs someone else, while telling myself at least he wants to involve me and at least he isn't cheating.. which would leave to wondering if he IS cheating and is trying to find an "in" for his "new girlfriend". I would be wondering if he's checking out girls all the time and if in some way's he isn't using me for "stability" in a sort of "cake and eat it too" scenario.

I understand a lot of my reaction would be based on any of my own insecurities and the fact monogomy is hard-wired into my head but that's how I would react :P

 I agree to most parts of what you have written. My husband and I were watching NatGeo's Taboo last night (guys who have love dolls, seven-year-old kids in a village in Nepal who marry, an Aussie couple practicing negotiated infidelity). According to the psychologist, the human brain is built for monogamy and even if laws and society change, the human brain remains the same.

Can someone explain to me what a threesome is? Does it have to do with golfing?

Your thinking of a tri-fecta.

so what was he suggesting? a male or female?

I have already written the answer, Charles.

I was just referring to last night's Taboo episode on NatGeo.

triple play?

Yes that would be when the third wheel hits a grand slam

So what is a threesome then? One less than a foursome?

See above.
