Asked for passport, then a new AP in D.C.???????

Why would the embassy call someone to submit their passport and say they will print the visa in the same week, then at the end of the week, call the person to say "there is a 2-3 week delay, we're waiting from something in D.C., we'll call you when it's finished".

I guess it sounds like another AP for a name check in D.C..............i think HotGuy had this problem too.

It just feels like a cruel joke to play on people.

WHY WOULD THEY CALL MY HUSBAND TO SUBMIT HIS PASSPORT, PROMISING TO PRINT WITHIN DAYS, THEN TELL HIM 5 DAYS LATER THAT THEY'RE WAITING SOMETHING IN D.C. FOR SEVERAL WEEKS??????????

This rollercoaster ride is making me sick, literally!! :(

Im so sorry. It almost sounds like their hands were tied.

I agree it would be MUCH better if they got all their ducks in a row BEFORE calling and saying it will be printed. (F)

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I don't understand the different embassys. I have an email from the Jordan embassy a couple years ago asking for my husbands passport, so they could issue his visa. We sent the passport and he received it back a few days later with a note saying that they were sending our file back to the U.S. There was no reason. I emailed and emailed the embassy and they never gave a reason. That was the K3....

so, this time, the CO told my husband that he was approved, but we have been in AP since the interview in August. I will believe he is approved when he has his visa in hand and not until then.

I am sorry that you are going through this. I really understand your pain. Hopefully, they will finish this AP quickly and y'all will have your visa in hand.

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........

In some cases if a check expires by the time they get the other checks done (assuming there are multiple checks), they have to redo the expired one. Could happen even if there is only one check and the consulate is just very behind and does not get back to your file before it expires.

Very annoying though regardless of the reason.

We kind of thought we got through AP a little fast, about 7 weeks.

Today the embassy told my husband that the CO has totally approved his visa for issuance, but they needed to send something off to D.C. (didn't tell him what), and it will take about 3 weeks (sounds like a name check to me).

In another thread, HotGuy said that a man at DOS told him that sending for a name check in D.C. is the normal final step before the visa is actually printed.

So if all they have to do is their final step of completing a name check, whether they did one before and it timed out or not, is fine with us, we know we're 'clean'

Thanks everyone for your great support :star:

That's right .I had the same problem . :(

On July 30 ,2009 i got an Email from the embassy .they asked me to send in my passport so they can issue me the visa .Me and my fiancee were so happy we thought that we are going to get the visa but sadly it was a false hope .!

They put me under administrative review till January 13,2010 .

On January 13,2010 the CO required a new AP ! and also its in DC .and that's what the guy at the embassy told me today when i called the embassy to check on my case status .

Even that guy knows me so well and he even knows what i will ask him LOL .It has been almost 11 months and he used to answer my call .

I hope it will not take so long and they will end with that AP soon .

Good luck and my best wishes for ya .

Well it was the man at the embassy not at DOS .

In fact he did not tell me its a name check but i guess it is .Let's think about it together what else they can do but name check in DC ?!

And yeah he told me that they reviewed my case and they done with that i'm so happy that they did and it just took them 10 months to review my case LOL '' they even said the same to my fiancee's senator '' so once they done with that AP '' which i guess its a name check in DC '' they will issue me the visa Insha'Allah .

But i guess they will ask me to renew my medical exam and the police record .'' my medical exam will expire next month and the police record already expired ''

Thank you so much Mohamed, I know you have more experience than most of us here with these waiting games and false hopes.

Today they told Ahmed that the CO definitely approved his visa for printing this week, but had to send something off to D.C. at the last minute (didn't say what it is) and they will call him in 2-3 weeks (ya, right!)

We know we will pass any name check they have to do, so we're not worried, just feeling so upset at the false promise he was given last Sunday.

Is'a we all get out of AP hell soooooooon!!!!

You are more than welcome .

I know everytime i call the embassy they refused to tell me what are they checking on me in DC ? but i can tell its name check for sure .Maybe the first one expired and they need a new name check now .Maybe its the first time they even check on me in DC .

Cause i asked the guy at the embassy well it has been almost 10 months so why you did not do that AP during those 10 months ? He says they could not cause its like step by step processing .

For sure we will pass any name check .We are not bad guys and they should know that .

I know how it feels .it hurts so much and they don't care and they really very good when it comes to the waiting game !

I also hope his police cert and medical dont expire while this waiting for name check in D.C. Because if they finish the name check, then he needs like 1 or 2 weeks to get a new police cert or medical, then the recent AP will expire again?!?!?!?!?

Like a big circle we can't escape between expiring AP and expiring docs

Don't worry about that part .His medical exam will expire in November'' Its valid for a year '' and i don't think they will take that long for a name check .

The police record is valid for 3 months but i don't think they will ask him to renew it .
