Does anyone else think it is odd that only one of the children was targeted for abuse?

Nope - see it ALL the time - the "targeted" child. My best friend is CPS...it's really very sad when you hear a child say that her sister is loved by her mom, but she's not because she's "bad". Breaks your heart.

She's the oldest of a marriage that didn't work...perhaps she looks like/acts like/sounds like bio-mom. It takes so little to set someone off sometimes.

FYI - I'm not at all offended by anyone's single parent versus two-parent home comments. - I'm a single-mom, kid getting straight A's in school, Outstanding in all behavior, in Gifted and Talented Education program, loves her dad completely and gets to spend as much time as she would like (when she's not in school) with him. No problems whatsoever...

Working for the Public Defender, I see dreadful examples of single-parents and dual parent families all of the time...it's unfortunate...some people just shouldn't be allowed to be parents...

MC has a very valid point, even if you all don't want to admit it. So many of you laud the virtues of a two parent family while excoriate single parent families. Sh!t like this happens regardless of family dynamics.

Look the stats are more than clear about what family dynamics children do best in.

To use this story as proof of anything is like pointing out that -someone who had a heart attack exercising, proves Fitness is not better than living like a couch potato.
