Good move to the DCF forum -- I can see that its presence in the IR1/CR1 forum was causing some confusion.

While pushbrk's answer may be correct if the USC spouse and/or children are in the US, for most DCF couples this will not be the case. jaremedios is right -- the question is about who is ACCOMPANYING you to the US. In 31a, you write the name of your spouse (and any USC children); 31b is N/A (unless your spouse and/or children will be flying back at a later date).

The question says nothing about spouses immigrating; it is about accompanying. Sometimes it helps to read the form itself to assure oneself of the terminology and then consider the context in which the OP is asking a question (here: DCF) before posting.

That's ok - as they apparently don't care and many probably make this mistake, but it's still wrong

I had my interview last week. I wrote my name there but brought other copies of the form filled out with my name not there. I asked the man that overlooked the docs if he wanted my name or not and he said to just leave it and if the consul didn't want it there he'd white it out! So really it probably doesn't matter! But I did not have any issues leaving my name there! (as the USC)
