Hi everyone,

Ive petitioned for a K-1 for my fiance, I have not been working in the past year, however I will have no economic problem supporting my fiance. I have chosen to go the stated asset route on the I-134, to be specific, I will use 12 month savings accounts (CDs).

So my question is, what is the proper way to document these accounts? Past income taxes/1099s dont show balances, they only reflect the acct numbers and earned interest. I plan to copy the actual acct certificates which reflect all of the crucial info on the accts, however the dates on these certificates will not be recent, as they reflect the date the acct was opened. Will this be ok?

Sorry for the long wind, I just want to be sure to do things right the first time.

Thanks...

Can you get a letter, on headed paper, from your bank stating the current value of these savings?

You will have to show that they are worth at least 5 times the 125% level. You can eather send comies of the original certificates or a periodic statement from the bank that issued them

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

you might want to get a certification from your bank, saying that you have such accounts with them for the specific amounts and that you've had them for a certain period now and they accrue certain interests. :)

not only would it be official but you won't have to photocpy the actual certificates
