Hi,

I really can't recall if I was told by the interviewer to send my passport along with the additional docs to be mailed in Montreal... ( i felt so disappointed when i got out of room 7 on that day...) would it be okay if I will just send it along with the additional docs?

please share your thoughts esp those who were asked for additional docs...

Thanks in advance.

He didnt tell me to send my passports, just he additional docs, and that my visa package would be sent to me 2-4 weeks later... think im just gonna send them anyways... the worst that could happen is that they dont need em and send them back. :help:

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

You need to send your passport in, so after review of the additional documents, they can send it back. If they didn't have your passport, I don't know what they'd be sending you back in 2-4 weeks!

Yes, both of you, send the passport in!

They gave me a "refusal worksheet" that had what they needed for each petition. On mine it said send back both the passport and addtl information. If you have that paper it should say it on there. But either way it took about 2-3 weeks and a few emails to get the visas backs.

The passport is what they stamp your Visa in. Technically, you shouldn't be able to activate your PR status without it.

Wow that is a long time, I know it's a case by case situation and can take longer. I was just letting the Op know how long mine took because I can only speak on that... Just keep emailing them and working on it I'm sure it will come. Good Luck

Well, we know there are delays, because they have changed their auto-response to include this:

"If you have sent your passport to the IV unit and need it returned before a visa can be issued, please send a separate message to Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov with the subject line "Passport return." In the text of your message, please list your full name, your IV case number, the date on which you mailed your passport, and the address to which you would like your passport mailed."

Sigh.. next they will ask for "walking on water" as an pre-requisite to receiving your visa... so very frustrating.

Mines not for domicile luckily, mine is for CRBA for our 2 year old. Not much to "assess" there.

Just a question...what is the best way to send my additional docs and passport to Montreal? Canada Post Express? Fed Ex? UPS?

I just want to make sure that these are received by the MTL Consulate people. I will be sending the original docs.

Thanks.
