My K-1 petition approved by USCIS was received by NVC a week ago. Till yesterday, I was being told by the NVC staff that my case is under Additional Processing at NVC and there is no time limit for that.

Today, when I called, the lady told me that my case was under "Security administrative Review" .

My question: Is it just a terminology difference or is it that "Security administrative Review" is different from "Additional Processing" at NVC.

What do these terms actually mean?

Please note that this is my re-filed (second) K-1 for the same fiancee as my previous K-1 had expired and the Consulate didn't renew it.

Thanks!

Hmm... this is a strange term they used as I never hard this. Usually, additional processing could mean several things. I would think they are just doing a background check. You will get out of NVC soon, usually they don't take too long.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Darnell, thank you for the link. That was very helpful.

I was aware of some of these checks but was not expecting them at this stage at NVC............may be at the Consulate.

Last time around my K-1 was stuck in the Delhi embassy for months and they basically let the petition expire........... guess what, I heard from them right after the expiration of my petition................... figure that. They couldn't find anything else other that the usual bull........... evidence does not support relationship and that 129F expired..........:angry::angry:
