That is a great idea. Thanks for some assurance. I am going to get about 2 vendors to give me reciepts. Also, going to call my congresswoman and see if they can remind them of the seriousness. Last time I got a 221g they told me that they can not do anything when the consulate is involved, but if my case was at USCIS they could help. Thinking of getting a hold of my senator. But, the letter is a awsome idea. The other two officers that conducted his interview told him he was approved. So, that gave me some hope. I just don't know what happened with the last officer and why he gave my fiance such a hard time.

Star

star what would have happened if u had planned a at home wedding? i mean there are many of us that had planned that......... is there anyway to get receipts for things u would rent or at least something showing that you have them booked for that day?

I got the 221g scanned from my fiance and it states the following:

Submit concrete evidence regarding marriage in US.

This is what I am thinking would be concrete.

A receipt of the banquet facility where the wedding ceremony

a letter from the priest that will be performing the ceremony

what about a reciept from a jewelery story regarding our wedding rings

I don't want to take the risk of booking everything as that would be very costly and risky. I am meeting with one of the sales rep on Saturday. I am giving myself two weeks to get everything ready.

Thank you so much for your responses as this is giving me ideas. But, if you know of anything more that can signify "concrete" wedding plans let me know. I don't know what they want and why they are giving us such a hard time.

That is a great idea, but our place is not big enough to host any event. Our initial plan was having just a simple wedding at the mosque and then just reception at a nearby restaraunt. That was our planning. I just looked into those places before.

This is Mumbai and I feel that they are equivalent to Delhi. But, that is so true. They feel like they can rule us and play with peoples lives.

Ok just exactly word from word on the 221g. I really appreciate everyones help. I don't want to leave anything out. As this whole process is really getting ridiculous now.

Submit evidence of concrete plans to marry in USA within 90 days of your entry in USA.

That is exactly what they put on his 221g.

in the past (on VJ) i've read that this consulates does this sometimes, they request some sort of reservation for the wedding...

Do you know of what exactly they submitted? As I feel like the 221g we got is out of the ordinary.

Do you have an officiate already? Have them write a statement saying that you've made arrangements with them to officiate the wedding. If you've got an arrangement to not pay a deposit or booking fee until you have a date, have the officiate say so.

Likewise for the photographer.

ETA: Star, I'm sorry they keep jerking you guys around :(

Yes, I am so tired o this. I have an officiate that we are going to use. That is a wonderful idea.

Pick a hall. Pay a deposit. Get a receipt, that shows a 'window of time'.

Give receipt to da VO.

Good Luck !

Isn't yours a K1 visa? they are not supposed to ask for wedding preparations since the wedding won't happen in India. I would call the DHS and complain. Thats what Daniel did when they gave us a 221g for a rediculous reason and my AP only lasted 1 day. DHS likes feedbacks about consulates. As a petitioner try to call them and tell them exactly what happened. All the best

In the mean time, don't pay for anything yet, just prepare for it I would say, like where you want the wedding ceremony and stuff.

 Lots of Luck to u both.

Star--

Question. . .my husband is Pakistani and Muslim. Are you Muslim? I am not and it was very difficult to find a mosque that would perform our wedding. . .didn't know if this was something the consulate was counting on. . .

Do contact the Senator, this is a much different kind of AP. They cannot speed up security checks, but abuses of power are more their line of work. Also, do contact the Consular Affairs office at DHS about it. . .I used them more than once too and they were really helpful once you finally got someone who would listen.

Yes, I am muslim, and the consulate wanted one of three things. They either wanted a imam or someone to state that they will officiate the wedding, a reciept of the banquet hall, or a wedding invitation.

I think I am going to contact the Consular Affairs that is a better idea. The thing that keeps me going and is that they said he is approved. I feel like its more of a conditional approval.

I have reserved the place for our wedding and made a minimum deposit. In addition to that there is copy of my check with the reciept. I am sending this with my fiance and he will submit that with his passport next week.

Thanks for the wonderful idea. I hope that this is the last thing they need.

Ya know, I am stumped. The things they've asked for are easy to obtain in the USA.

Yet you want to moan about doing it.

IMO - get what they want, give them what they want.

Go Forth !!

Yes its a K-1 visa. This is interesting information and I will be calling them on Monday. I do think its ridiculous what they are asking for. It's like planning for a wedding with the thought that there may be a slight chance it will not happen. I want to be happy, but there is that thought in the back of my mind what if they still will not issue.

Thank you!
