Quick question. My fiance K-1 is moving here. It is cheaper for me to buy a roundtrip ticket Seattle to Bangkok then back to Seattle. Is there a problem if she doesnt use the original ticket from Seattle to Bangkok and only uses the return ticket Bangkok to Seattle. Is that even possible? Why does this have to be so complicated?

When the first leg of a trip isn't used that typically cancels the rest of the ticket. In that case the answer to your question is: no, can't be done that way.

Previous answer is correct; you can buy a one way ticket, or a return ticket and use only the first portion of the flight, but you CANNOT use only the return flight of a ticket, as your ticket will be voided as soon as you do not show up for the first leg of the journey.

Hi it is not possible to use a return ticket for only the last segment of a reservation. The major GDS system that airlines use Amadeus, Galileo, Saber, World span automatically delete any flight segments if you do not fly the first segment of the reservation. This would occur when your finance does not board the first Seattle to Bangkok flight, when the aircraft door closes on the Seattle to Bangkok flight and your finance is not on board the GDS systems will delete any flight segments that are inside the reservation. It occurs automatically.

How much is a roundtrip BKK-STL? If you can get a cheaper price for that than one-way (which I inferred as possible from your post), then she can use the to-US portion and "lose" the return-portion after landing (btw, this is time-honoured approach).
