"To si, man or not to si, man; that is the question at which to shake a spear, si man..."

It's not the question...it's the answer. ;)

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Chill. It's Friday night, go have a beer (if you're so inclined). Susita, go put yer feet up and watch NCIS.

Edited: I got my long-running investigative television programme wrong there! Oops.

how dare you confuse NCIS with CSI! Was it the acronyms?

What a bunch of whiners. If it's such a problem, just turn the damn thing off.

I have all "Mafia Wars" and "Farmville" notifications blocked on Facebook 'cause they're annoying as hell. I don't ask my friends to stop playing them.

This has got to be THE funniest thread I have ever read on VJ. How absolutely insane. Rudness, funny quips, sarcasm (my personal fav). Better than Eastenders and Corrie put together.

Seriously, is it really that deep? No.

I agree that some signatures are over the top and I often find myself in awe (and not in a good way) but I just keep it moving. VJ is a mere FRACTION of my life and I'm sure we all have real life stresses. Can't really see VJ signatures rating in my top 10 of blood pressure raising issues.

And sort of along the same lines of thinking, but when I see my posts, there's no space below the end of my sig but on others there is? What causes that to happen?

The spacing is consistent - it's placed at the end of your post, wherever that may be. In posts that are longer than the sidebar (to the left of posts/PMs, which used to be much shorter, but Ewok recently reworked the sidebar), that sidebar ends before the post, so there's no space below the end of the sig. In posts that are short, there's a tooooooon of space.

Oh, but it IS deep. For truly this is one of the most burning issues on VJ -- why else would people feel the need to defend to the death the right to post execrable, blingtastic testaments of love and the minutiae of one's own personal visa journey? This is serious business, Ricky and Vanessa. If it's not in the top ten issues, well, you're just going to have to resign from VJ.

(And BTW -- how is EastEnders these days? :star: )

Really, si man? This is a momentous revelation! Once I was blind, but now I can si! Si man!

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Well if you have the guts to laugh at the members who lost their loved ones at least we know what kind of a person you are. I'm sure it will catch up with u.

Hey, just curious... Why is it so wrong to have an avatar depicting you and your loved one? Now I feel bad for having one like that. I realize there's a lot of terrible effing bullsh*t going on out there and i consider myself being a very compassionate person but why oh why can one not have any frikcing avatar one wants? (no offense but yours isn't exactly purdy)

It does sometimes depress me to see other people writing in a 30pt pink writing that they got approved, married, their green card because this process is taking forever in our case. On the other hand, I know there's many people who have given up on the process or lost their fiance(e)/spouse a different way but seriously...?

mh people are so hostile (not you necessarely), i don't get it.

This thread isn't about avatars, it's about signatures.

Thanks for pointing that out. The person I quoted though complained about avatars so I'd like to know what's wrong with that.

In order not to be too OT, I don't mind signatures as long as they are not insulting, excessively huge and after all, like many already said, you have the option of turning them off if you like. problemo solved

I'm all for signatures, don't get me wrong. It's a lot easier to glance at someone's timeline for reference than opening up their timeline in a separate window. I also click through to other people's blogs quite often, and remember which member has a link to a useful thread (like Vanessa+Tony's links to the Aussie specific threads)

However, there are some members with ridiculously long signatures containing nothing of any use information-wise.

Sure, have a small pic of you and yours; have a LINK to your favourite utube track; have a countdown ticker or two but c'mon... embedding 3 vids in your sig or 6 different sparkling animated what-have-yous or whacking great big 'my uterus is expanding at a rate of .5 micrometres per second this week!'

This isn't aimed at any members in particular, but is it really necessary? I'm sure there is a way of restricting the size of graphics and length in cm that your signature can extend to. At least, there used to be on other Invision Board software forums I haunt...

 Uterus expansion...an amazing new phenomenon!
