I am in the US on a K3 visa with EAD. I have had my AOS interview and have verbal green card approval...just waiting for it in writing and for the green card itself now. For the past couple of years my husband has filed joint tax returns using my ITIN. I am now job hunting and in need of a SSN and it occurred to me that on the DS-230 form I checked the boxes requesting a SSN....this was over a year ago and i've heard nothing. Does anyone have any idea whether i should be expecting a SSN to turn up with my green card, or whether this request has gone unfulfilled and i should just apply for a SSN anew? Thanks in advance

DS-230 Part II SSN box does not work for a K-3.... You need to go to the SSA and apply

YMMV

Regardless if it applies to your visa or not if it didnt turn up after 60 days they told me to start calling either SSN or cbp because thats the time frame of recieving it. Needless to say you should check out the SSN office and they should be able to set you up but its going to take up to 4 weeks to recieve your new SSN, if they verify that you are eligble for a SSN they may be able to give you the number and mail you the actual card.

why would she have to call the SSN office when the SS# was never aplyed for ,

as payxi said it does not aply to K3 so there was never an auto aplication send with DS 230,

and i belive there is realy no use of going there now since she doesnt have the GC yet ,

Oh i was just saying in general if she or anybody for that matter thought at the time that they applied for something ie... A SSN card and it was never received then they, or in this case she should call to check up on the status of that item. Specially if its been past 60 days. Even if she checked the box or if it applies to her visa or not, if any of that makes sense.
