Just for you.....a humane way to catch a mouse .....Get an empty wine bottle, or a glass bottle of a similar size, it must be dry inside. Put a piece of chocolate or drizzle some chocolate sauce into the bottom of the bottle. (mice love chocolate  ) Now place the bottle near where mousey hangs out...prop it up so that its on a slant , not too much of a slant, mousey needs to get into the bottle to feast on that free chocolate !!! The thing is ,he will get in easily enough, but if the bottles slanted and dry he wont be able to get out again. I've used this method and it works a treat  You can release the mouse wherever you like. happy hunting !!

kim

OMG....then what do I do with the bottle with the mouse in it? I would seriously passout seeing the little critter running around.

Poor little miceys! What did they ever do to you?

I'm scared of lots of things but they have to represent some kind of real and present danger to me - like poisonous spiders and snakes and falling off something high.

Mouse droppings are squicky but the actual mice are sweet little things. I couldn't bear to kill them especially in a way that would make them suffer... I hope you were able to get rid of them humanely!

If you see one it means there are another dozen in the walls. Good luck.

Spot on.

Since the day I started this thread, I ordered two electronic pest repellents and seen THREE mice. Hubby also ordered two humane traps. They have, however, given up on running around the kitchen apparently because last night we heard one scratching at the wall behind my closet in our room. I did not sleep well last night.

Hubby and I checked my closet again this morning before leaving for work and we found a hole that was chewed through the dry wall AND the carpet.

Someone suggested stuffing whatever holes we find with steel wool. We have found at least four holes throughout the house so far, and this is the very first time my husband has ever encountered mice in the house (he's lived in it for almost a decade). I'm gonna do the steel wool thing this weekend. We now suspect they're coming from the outside through the garage, so we're going to tear through the garage tomorrow too.

This morning I told my hubby if I ever see one of those mice again, I'm just gonna stomp on it real hard with my slippered foot and kill it once and for all. I don't give a flying #### about their cuteness. They are pissing us off. I want them all bloodied and dead.

That was me with the steel wool. :) My house had it stuffed in places when I moved in and I've never seen a mouse yet. Could also be cos of my cat, who knows

I have heard them in the walls before, usually in cold weather, but not this winter. This year, I have the pleasure of hearing SOMEthing walking on the ductwork under the house, on the duct right beside my bed. Eeeek!!! First time I heard it, I couldn't sleep either (I feel your pain, Ephesia!!!).

It freaked me out cos I was scared something had gotten under the house and trapped somehow. Now I know that it has to be something that can come and go as it pleases because I only hear it every now and then. Its still very disconcerting!

I sure hope you get this sorted out soon. Have you considered a puddy tat? :)(L)

I had a mouse before my hubby came back. I almost killed it by giving it a heart attack  (he came around the corner and I screamed) but then ended up getting some decon (it kills them and then they decompose without smelling and rot away to nothing in the walls) and got rid of the problem just before my in laws came to visit (THANK GOD). We have cats now, so we didn't get any more this year.

Hi Elen

In my humble opinion, a bit of chocolate chip cookie dough on a sticky trap - never missed yet.

Happy Hunting! I so empathize with you, by the way. I woud personally rather have a python in my house than a mouse. They freak me out completely.

Teresa

With a python in the house you most probably won't have mice anyway

Tracy, I sent a text message an hour ago to my hubby to say we need to go to the store tomorrow to pick up groceries and steel wool coz I am on fire now: tomorrow will be Massive Mouse Cleanout Operation Day (MMCOD). He replied: "Can I call in sick tomorrow and go to work? Just kidding." :hehe:

We also did consider a puddy tat. His good friend has two cats, and hubster considered borrowing one.

Faith, I will also buy some Decon since it won't cause the mice to give off decomp odor (initially I thought it would). I just told hubby about your suggestion and he still thinks there will be a stink. He even asked me what we're gonna do about the blood the mice will spit up when they're poisoned.:unsure:

We need to solve this pest problem very soon because hubby's going for major surgery in exactly 2 weeks' time and I'll be alone at home for 7-10 days while he's in the hospital. I ain't gonna share space with mice, cute or otherwise. ;)

I never saw any blood or smelt anything. My dad's the one who told me to use that and he was right on with his assessment, so hopefully it will work for you!

Faith, I relayed your message to my husband, and he said he used poison at his old apartment and there was blood. I just asked him what poison he used. This discussion is getting funny because we're doing it via text messages on our cell phones. LOL.

HA MMCOD, that is funny!

I would borrow puddy tat if your friend would let you. Those mice would take one look at puddy tat and hit the road (or lest be killed). But I would still plug the holes too so they are sure not to come back! ;)
