Hi all,

My visa interview was on January 27th, but on the day I discovered that they needed to see a full birth certificate in stead my half cert! Also, according to the interviewing officer, my passport 'was too damaged to have a visa attached to it' (a few of the pages were a bit crinkled on the edges from water damage, although I had been travelling on it!), AND the interviewer indicated that she wanted to see my American fiancee's tax returns from year eneding 2008 (even though it says nothing about that in the interview guidance notes or checklist), AND the interviewer asked for a completed I-134 from my fiancee (even though K visa applicants are not required to furnish this document, according to the interview guidance notes and checklist!).

So, after that farce, I immediately order a new passport, a new birth certificate at a combined cost of £156, and Shawnie Fed-Ex'd her paperwork to me from Houston at a cost of $100.

Courier came and collected items from me on Tuesday 9th Feb. Courier said it can take up to 15 working days to process visa, but originally I was told from interview that it would be 3 to 5 working days. Does it just take even longer now because the interview didn't quite go according to plan? A delay creates even further delay? It just slows down further?

What is the average time for London applicants in my situation to get a visa returned by courier after supplying items to courier to go the embassy?

Thanks a lot everyone!

Martin & Shawnie.

3-5 days is what they always say, and sometimes it happens, but 2 weeks or less is more like it.

Oh #######. And now airfares are going up! For the first time in 4 months, the price of a ticket to Houston has shot up (£70). My money is running out and I need to be in Houston! This visa delay is seriously depressing.

This is so frustrating. My sister had to move out of her apartment on tuesday feb 9th, so I am essentially homeless now. I was living with her. I was assuming things would be sorted now with the visa. I am moving around various friend's houses and staying with different people for 2 or 3 nights at a time. Don't want to be a burden! I just hope the courier returns with a visa soon. My fiancee in Houston is being driven crazy by my absence! Bless her!

I hate to bring this up, but if you are 'moving about' - what address did you tell the consulate to deliver the visa to?

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

It's ok. I have updated the courier company with my current address. Plus, they call or text the day before delivery, so I do get an opportunity to tell them where I am thankfully!

I desperately need to contact the US Embassy, but do not have access to a landline, and from my mobile the £1.20 per minute would probably be double! I need an update on my visa application. I had my interview was on Feb 3rd, there were complications, courier collected extra identification and papers from me on Tuesday Feb 9th. Waiting for return courier with hopefully a visa.

Any email addresses?

Any alternative phone numbers?

Thanks for any help.

You can't go buy a phone card and ring them from a land line somewhere?

My funds are limited (because the visa application has been so slow, I am unemployed, and I need to eat!). I simply cannot afford to call them. Their current system should be scrapped and replaced with a nice, normal, 0207 landline number!

I've never been in this position so I'm not sure. I don't think it would matter which number you called. Have you not been into the UK forum to chat with those around your same timeline? They may know better which line to call.

We feel your pain.

Married in US Nov. 2007 then filed I-130. Interview was Nov. 3 2009. Denied a Visa because my wife's 2008 Tax return was not submitted nor requested. Received white slip. Officer returned my passport and claimed it would be 2 weeks to resolve. Contacted Senator end of Dec. 2009. Passport requested from Officer 1 day later. Passport received in Montreal Jan.4 2010. Emailed Consulate twice with no response. Contacted Senator again twice with no response.

Anyone have an idea how long it takes to receive Passport back from Montreal Consulate?

Sigh
