I went to my family doctor today to have the antibodies titers test done...she told me they don't do that anymore. So, I have to get all my vaccinations again!! She said to come in prior to my medical appointment and she would give me both needles. Chickenpox I have had so I only need to verbally verify that I have had that. She did tell me it is a good idea to get the mumps one anyway because you can get it again when you get older (like me). At least it's free and she can do it in her office.

That's strange... I'm sure they still do titer tests.

Is there a health department office in your area? Maybe try to ask them about it before getting vaccines?

Unless you really want to get all your vaccines again, I would look for another clinic/doctor who wants to to the titer tests.

My fiance' just had blood tests done to determine what immunizations he needed although he said the doctor didn't call them titer tests. He couldn't remember what the doctor called them. Who wants to get poked for something you have already been immunized against?

Maybe it's your own Doctor that doesn't do them? I agree, just a few phone calls would ensure that it's not done anywhere. I was pressed for time when I got my vaccinations and I just had them redone. I had to get my Tetnus booster done anyway, and I hadn't had chicken pox as a child, so I had that done with the MMR at the same time.

yea that sounds odd that they wont do those test maybe because they pay out of pocket?. But deffinatly they are still done had to get those done too. And if for some reason they cant be done at all try a different doctor or start getting those shots now, Because they can only give so many shots within a certain time frame and some are even "Series IE.. 1 week then 2months later type." But as long as you show you are getting them then you should be good. but i would for sure look at a different doctor or trying old school shot records or vital stats maybe they may have kept them. Good luck.

I'm not all that concerned about getting them done again. I'm pretty well due for my tetnus and she did say it doesn't hurt to get the mumps done again...if I do them within 4 weeks of the medical...that should mean two needles. I've had chicken pox. I thought it strange too...but I'd have to get "poked" for a blood test anyway so...

.

I dunno about that. I'm not a nurse/doctor, but if I don't need something injected into my body, I'm not getting it.
