Alimony to exwife

I'm paying my exwife 500.00 dollars a month for alimony. Will this create a problem with our visa interview? My fiancee reads BBS 001 in China and she says maybe the VO could see this as still having a relationship with the exwife. NOT!

The only thing I can think that might cause problems were if the alimony dropped you below the line of making enough money to support your fiancee.

As far as it indicating that there is still a relationship, I highly doubt it. Alimony is relatively common in divorced couples, so as long as you are legally divorced (have your final divorce decree) it definitely shouldn't be a problem.

So when I fill out the I-134, do I list her as partial support?

As long as the alimony is based on a court order that is in effect when you fill out the form , yes she is partially dependent and the amount you are paying here affects your available income.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

No, instead you should reduce your income by 500/month. Alimony is a distribution of income. When you file your taxes, alimony is considered an adjustment to income.

I do not pay alimony as my Ex-wife has remarried. But I do pay Child Support for my two daughters. I will list them on the I-134 as Partial Support since according to court guidelines I should be providing 50% of their support plus additional or less depending on the time they are with me.

Child support is not an adjustment of income as is alimony.

I write this because I am thinking to say "See Additional Sheet - I-134" and explain all amounts specifically. The Child Support payments do not drop me down near the 125% threshold for ability to support my fiancee. I want to give the DOS Embassy in Bangkok a full and complete picture of everything.

Thanks so much for the info fellow VJers. I don't want to give the VO the wrong Idea.
