Hello! I'm new here.

I'm a US citizen now and I sent I-130 to VSC on April 28, 06 for my mom, who's in China.

I received a letter from VSC on May 28, 06 confirming receipt of my application then hear nothing more so far. Was this letter the approval letter or I should still expect another one?

Can anyone here share your timeline if you recently applied immigration for your parents in China too?

Thanks a lot!!!

I noticed that no-one has answered your message - I think that maybe thats because you are asking about China.

I can't tell you anything about China as we are from the UK - but our situation is similar as our daughter is a USC as of October last year which is when she filed the I-130 for us - so if you check out my timeline you will see how the cases progressed.

I wish you the best of luck.

Hi there, same as Jenart, I could not begin to tell you how long it would take from China but we are also UK parents going through our daughter who is a USC but our's has taken a bit longer than Jenart's but only through our own fault (missing bits of info)

Check out my timeline and it will possibly give you an idea, good luck

I am going to be filing to bring my parents over from Scotland as soon as I become a USC is there a step by step guide as to what to file, what happens next, medical info, whats things are needed ie birth certificates, police certificats (where do you get them) is it from age 16? both my parents are in there late 60's and have moved around with the Army so lots of addresses... What happens at the interview....

Any info or links would be of great help to me so I can understand what needs to be done and then I can explain it to mom and dad...

Thanks

Kezzie

Here is the official link: http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/parents.htm

You can file for your parents immediately after the oath ceremony - the I-130 form can be downloaded from the USCIS website. Once you have passed your citizenship test you will be given a date for taking the oath - so it would be a good idea to have your I-130 filled in ready. After the ceremony there will be an opportunity to ask as many questions as you like regarding your particular situation and its all very friendly. We were fortunate to be at the ceremony so know what it happens.

Hope this helps.

Dear Jenart,

It was so nice of you to reply my message! Thanks for sharing your time line. I guess I still have a long way to go--I just couldn't wait to bring my mom here to live with me--she's single and no relatives. She needs to be taken care of. She has been denied twice for a visitor's visa/B2 so we just gave up trying B2 and waited for my citizenship. I just heard that the process in USCIS is slowing down so I really get worried.

I saw your daughter didn't waste a single day in the processing of her side. She's really good. I wish the best of luck on 8/8 at your interview!!

Hello! munchkins

Thank you very much for replying my message and sharing your timeline. It did give me an idea of how long the process's gonna be---or even longer!

Good luck to you too!!

A parent is an Immediate Relative, so the process is very much like that for a spouse. Each Consulate's webpage will have Immigrant Visa information on it.

China has quite a backlog, so while your I-130 will go through like anyone else at VJ, your wait will be the Consulate in China. You can look at other China users' timelines for an idea, and the group candleforlove.com might help as well.

My uneducated guess would be a year-a year and a half from filing I-130.

PS: you are waiting for what is called NOA2 around here. You can check the processing timelines for VSC at uscis.gov
