I think you can just put unknown.

Well, he knows his name, etc. But for some strange reason, his name is not listed on the dang certificate itself! I hope they dont make this a big deal. I just dont know why they say they need BOTH parents listed on the birth certificate... This whole process is makin me a old woman I swear!!!

YARDIES! Help me (yes.. its me again asking for help)

We are completing the DS230 and my husbands birth certificate only has his Mother's name on it, not his dads. The NVC gov site says the certificate must have both parents on there. Anyone have similar issue? Should I be worried? His dad wasnt in the pic and never has been....

my hubby's dad is not in the picture either and is not on his BC

but we did list his name because he do know who his dad is.

They didnt even ask us about it.

My cousin is currently in Haiti - she has been working with Haiti Marycare for a few years - reading the blogs today has me in tears.

http://www.haitimarycare.org/

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We see at least three hundred patients. Pregnant women, babies, elderly, the acutely ill. I work with Dr. Maklin, one of the Haitian doctors who bounces between a lot of the clinics in the north, including ours in Jakzil. We see a patient who complains of diarrhea for 9 months and an episode of extreme illness a few months ago. He looks dehydrated, emaciated and he has a fever. Dr Maklin suspects HIV and we have a rapid test done (courtesy of Ted Kaplans team) and the man is positive. The weight of the diagnosis is huge. My heart hurts for him. It's not exactly easy to get HIV medication in Haiti. But it's not impossible either.

Dr. Maklin tells me about the cultural issues and politics around the diagnosis of HIV in Haiti and we talk with the patient about it, telling him he needs to go to Tru de Nord to have more tests done but that we are very concerned. You can't technically diagnose someone with a rapid test. We give him a letter to bring to the doctor he will see in Tru de Nord. There are HIV treatment programs in certain cities, Tru de Nord being the closest to where we are, but traveling back and forth to get medications, and dealing with the horrible side effects when you are already malnourished and frail... I am so grateful when his wife's test comes back negative.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GOD BLESS THEM

I am praying for all those who are stepping out of their comfort zones and heading to Haiti. We are a wonderful Country so yes lets all pray pray pray. And also pray after Haiti gets back on their feet they will be able to have a better life for all of them.

The posts are amazing - the one that got me was the child asking her for bubbles, cause she had brought them last trip - and having to explain to a child that waited 11 months for more bubbles that she needed the room for medication. She's an amazing girl - Her mom (my 1st cousin) died of leukemia when she was really young - She has grown up into such a wonderful, compassionate adult I am amazed every time I see her.

That's DJ too - It's gotten to the point that I always have multiple pairs of sun glasses with me, cause they "vanish" - this trip, I had to search out where at least 1 pair was to come home!

Nat are you feeling any better?

Stomach pain decreased, but the only food my body hasn't rejected is the fruit and yogurt parfait feom mcdonalds. I had 1 yesterday and 3 today. I feel sluggish prob from lack of food, but I won't let that stop my enjoyment from seeing cirque du soleil later today.

This resort put us in an uncleaned room at first. To make it up, they upgraded our room AND gave us $150! All I was expecting was for them to clean up. But that $ helped pay for the show tickets.
