How can I have confidence that moderators are able to police this site for racism, when these moderators quite clearly demonstrate that they don't understand what that means outside of simplistic name calling?

Was that clearly racism or an interpretation of a cartoon that in fact meant I was clearly able to distinguish that Muslims are not identical to, nor to be confused with terrorists?

Nope, I just commenting since some racism/bigotry is found funny on VJ. Seems you found something funny that I found bigoted, so what gets policed, especially since you despise moderation?

I do despise moderation, but here's my problem this site is MODERATED and racism is a huge NO NO, supposedly. Obviously some situations are more tricky to interpret than others, and in those situations I would expect the moderators to err on the side of caution because this site IS MODERATED, despite my prefernces otherwise.

Now you take that context, and you have a moderator that feels that affirmative action is not only too pc, but actually racist and that a judge who was appointed because of affirmative action should resign because she 'only got her job because of the colour or her skin'. I am sorry, but there isn't much room for 'interpretation' around such a statement. That's clearly determining that despite the fact that ALL the candidates for such a position are necessarily QUALIFIED, this person ISN'T BECAUSE SHE IS FROM A MINORITY and has played the sympathy RACE CARD. That is hardly an ambiguous statement.

You know, it's funny, but that's a typical right wing sort of excuse, "oh, your a hypocrite because you expect the standards that you don't agree with to be met anyway." They are not my standards, but I have every right to expect that these standards should in fact be met satisfactorily because when they are not, it creates an even worse situation than the one that I am not happy about in the first place.

I don't disagree with you, it's kinda funny though, the mods used to be called out for being too liberal before.

Racism & bigotry are not leaving VJ anytime soon. Didn't happen with the previously liberal mods and not with the current peeps. IMHO.

It's not a joke and for you to pretend that somehow this is one because you were caught out in your bigotry is the real problem I have with you. Anyone can make a bigoted remark, but when called out, the biggest people own up to it. You simply try to pretend that it 'wasn't what you meant' or worse in this instance that my explanation of why affirmative action has been necessary to address the problems of racism is the real bigotry. How old are you again? What does personal responsibility mean to you?
