Hi guys!

I have two short questions.

1)

I already received my K1 visa. My fiancee is living in San Diego. I want to fly out from Frankfurt to Las Vegas (I found a cheap flight). Can I cross the boarder in Las Vegas or has it to be San Diego. I quess I know already the answer and it should not be a problem. Just wanted to double check.

2)

I want to take a flight with an other airline from Las Vegas to San Diego.

The flight leaves 3,5 hours after landing in Las Vegas. How long does it take for me at the boarder until they process my visa papers?

Just want to make sure that I can get the flight.

thanks for the help

1. There is no border between Las Vegas and San Diego, unless somehow you want to go to Mexico first? You couldn't do that, as you cannot leave the country once you entered on the K1 (well, technically you can leave the country but you wouldn't get back in).

2. It depends how busy they are when your flight arrives. It took us 8 minutes in Newark when I arrived, we were out before our lugage was off the plane. To be on the save side, allow for 3 hours, so you should be just fine.

Where ever your international flight lands in the US (POE - Point of Entry) is where you will be processed through Border Patrol and Customs. There are no "Borders" within the US, only State boundaries. You can cross them freely anytime you like, just dont wander into Mexico or Canada (yet)!!!

How long it takes is pretty much dependant on how busy BP and Customs is when you land. It took us 30 minutes to clear everything and move on to our domestic flight in Detroit. Unless you were to run into a problem with BP or Customs it should not take more than an hour - if you have 3.5 hours I would think you'd be perfectly fine!
